<![CDATA[The NFL season can never come soon enough. There’s nothing quite like having a wager on a fall Sunday. Fortunately, there are plenty of other sports to fill the gap from February to September, including the riveting NBA and NHL playoffs at the moment. But don’t sell golf short. It’s not unusual for a player who’s 20/1 or 30/1 to win a tournament. Occasionally, a 70/1 or 80/1 ticket might hit. And then there are the rare occasions where a big long shot delivers. That was the case in the PGA Championship. A completely unexpected win from Aaron Rai made substantial five-figure winners of a few prescient bettors. More on those wagers, a massive bet-a-lot-to-win-a-little World Cup play and the NBA ladder bettor striking once again, as we recap the week that was in sports betting. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. PGA Payday Pre-tournament, several sportsbooks had Rai at +20000 (200/1) or longer to win the PGA Championship at Aronimink. Rai’s first two rounds were solid — even-par 70, followed by a 69 — were solid, but at 1 under par, he didn’t really stand out on a crowded leaderboard. A 3-under 67 on Saturday got him to 4-under 206 for the tournament, two shots off the lead. However, he had an inauspicious Sunday start: three bogeys, two birdies, three pars over his first eight holes, dropping a shot in the process. Then came a completely unexpected charge. Rai eagled the par-5 ninth, sparking a run of 6 under on his final 10 holes. He birdied Nos. 16 and 17 to leave the field behind, posting a three-shot victory with a 9-under 271 total. At DraftKings Sportsbook, a bettor put $288 on Rai +23000 (230/1), banking a $66,240 win. Similarly, a Fanatics Sportsbook customer had $300 on Rai at 200/1, netting $60,000. A Caesars Sports customer put $188 on Rai +20000 (200/1) and profited $38,000. The beauty of such huge odds — at least for those who took fliers on Rai — is that you didn’t need to bet much to win a significant amount. One DraftKings customer put a nominal 10 bucks on the Englishman and cashed out for nearly three grand. Prediction markets also offered the PGA Championship. In fact, ahead of Thursday’s first round, Kalshi had even longer odds on Rai than sportsbooks offered. One customer made it pay nicely on just a $9 trade. Minuscule Returns On the flip side of big winners on Rai, Kalshi took a massive trade that comparatively has almost nothing in return, on its World Cup futures market. Morocco is given around a 2% chance of winning the tournament. That means there’s around a 98% chance that Morocco doesn’t win the tournament. That translates to odds of -5000 or so. Which means it doesn’t pay much. But a Kalshi customer was convinced enough to put $300,000 on that position. As long as Morocco doesn’t make a shocking championship run, the trader will profit all of $6,000. Similarly, ProphetX had three trades that staked a lot to profit significantly less, on golfers not to win the PGA Championship: NBA Payday As reported over the past couple weeks, a BetMGM customer ran up more than $900,000 in winnings by making ladders of straight point-spread bets on several games. That bettor returned for Friday’s Spurs-Timberwolves Game 6, placing five wagers totaling $300,000. San Antonio then went out and hammered Minnesota 139-109, clinching the series 4-2 and advancing to the Western Conference finals vs. the Thunder. The bettor went 5-0 on those wagers, banking $165,063 in profit (total payout $465,063). Over the past three weeks or so, that customer is now up $1.085 million. MLB Money Home-run parlays are a popular play every day of the MLB season. On Sunday, a Hard Rock Bet customer made a four-legger pay out big, on just a $25 bet. The bettor took the Braves’ Austin Riley, the Cubs’ Michael Busch, the Royals’ Salvador Perez and the Brewers’ Ryan Jeffers to go yard. Riley and Busch didn’t delay, with each homering in the first inning. Perez went deep in the fourth inning, and even Jeffers didn’t make the bettor sweat much, with a fifth-inning homer. At huge odds of +146080 — almost 1461/1 — that turned a modest $25 into a healthy $36,544.92. A Fanatics customer went bigger Sunday, with a $1,000 bet on a nine-leg parlay. Which is a good time to remind you: Nine-leg parlays are not a good way to invest $1,000. Rather, they’re a good way to separate you from your money. Just keep that in mind. The odds were +3800, but the bettor also utilized a 33% profit boost, hiking those odds to +5091. Fortuitously, all nine legs delivered, and the customer’s $1,000 turned into $51,907.]]>

<![CDATA["Bear Bets" are real wagers that Chris "The Bear" Fallica is actually making. Like every golf junkie out there, I'm pretty excited about the PGA Championship. And between the latest with LIV and some golfers still trying to get back to their true form after injuries, this week's tournament should be interesting and fun to watch. Here's where I'm putting my money. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Scottie Scheffler The defending champion has a great chance to repeat, as he comes in off three straight runner-up finishes. He’s so good that only one player has finished in front of him the last three tourneys. In his six PGA appearances, he’s got five top 10 finishes. In his last 13 majors, only twice has he been out of the top 10. There really is no need to roll off any other stat superlatives. If he’s not there on Sunday, something has gone very wrong. PICK: Scottie Scheffler (-175) Top 10 including tiesPICK: Scottie Scheffler (+480) to win Bryson DeChambeau There's so much drama surrounding LIV right now, and I can’t help but wonder if that was weighing on his mind at the Masters when he missed the cut. Now that everything is pretty much out in the open, I’d expect Bryson to play better this week, especially given he’s done so well on PGA courses with three straight top-four finishes. Among the course comps this week for Aronimink are Pinehurst No. 2 and Winged Foot — the two courses at which Bryson won his two U.S. Opens. If you listen to Rory McIlroy, this PGA very much has a "hit it as far as you can and then figure it out feel." That's exactly how DeChambeau won at Winged Foot. I’ll take him against Aberg who, in his six non-Masters majors, has missed the cut four times. PICK: Bryson DeChambeau (+220) Top 10 including tiesPICK: Bryson DeChambeau (+2100) to win PICK: Bryson DeChambeau (+110) vs. Ludvig Åberg Matt Fitzpatrick Quail Hollow wasn’t great for him last week, but the last time Fitzpatrick finished outside the top 20 at Bay Hill, he ripped off finishes of 2-1-18-1-1 in his next five starts. He’s become one of the best and most consistent players on tour and again should post another solid finish. Unlike DeChambeau — who I think is truly in a better place in his mind with post-LIV plans — I don't get the same feeling with Jon Rahm. He’s been so well-spoken the last couple of weeks in light of everything and I get the sense he realizes he torpedoed his image somewhat, as well as his career, with the move to LIV. I don’t know what to expect from him this week, but at a nice plus-price, I’m willing to take Fitz in this head-to-head. PICK: Matt Fitzpatrick (-115) Top 20 including tiesPICK: Matt Fitzpatrick (+150) vs. Jon Rahm Justin Thomas JT has struggled the last few years in part to various injuries. Since winning the 2022 PGA, he’s got one top-30 finish, and he’s missed the cut in seven of his last 13 majors. I wonder if this type of course — where he won't be the longest hitter out there and he’s still not the most accurate either — might put him at a disadvantage here. I know he played well at Quail Hollow, but I have my doubts this week. I love Brooks Koepka in this head-to-head as Koepka has played pretty well since his return to the PGA Tour. PICK: Justin Thomas (+198) to miss cutPICK: Brooks Koepka (+100) vs. Justin Thomas Collin Morikawa Morikawa didn’t play well at Doral at all and couldn't give it a go last week at Quail Hollow as his back appears to still be an issue. What he did at the Masters was amazing, but I’d be surprised if he had a repeat success story this weekend. I’ll also back Brooks here in head-to-head vs. Morikawa. PICK: Collin Morikawa (+210) to miss cut PICK: Brooks Koepka (-110) vs. Collin Morikawa Justin Rose There's been so much chatter of Rose winning the 2013 U.S. Open down the road at Merion this week, which is fine, but the equipment change is a concern. Since flirting with a win at Augusta, he’s finished outside the top 40 at both Doral and Quail Hollow. He would be a good contrarian fade this week. PICK: Justin Rose (+198) to miss cut Extra Wagers While it won’t be the FedEx Cup setup which led to Keegan Bradley posting a winning score of 20-under, the prevailing thought from players and caddies I’ve heard from is somewhere between 13 and 15 under will win this week. And with just a little rain midweek and then not a lot of wind, that score projection checks out. PICK: Winning Score (+102) u267.5 Hovland’s form has fallen from 2023-24 and his third-place finish at the U.S. Open last year, but this is more a fade of Ludvig Åberg than anything. Hovland has played PGA courses well, finishing second, third and 28th over the last three years. He posted a top-20 finish at the Masters, so maybe things are coming into form again. PICK: Viktor Hovland (+470) Top Scandinavian]]>

<![CDATA[The second major championship of the season has arrived, with 156 players set to tee it up at the 108th PGA Championship this week at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. In 2025, Scottie Scheffler lifted the Wanamaker Trophy as he won the PGA Championship by five strokes in a dominant performance at Quail Hollow Golf Club. While he is favored to repeat at +380, Scheffler has just one win so far this season. That is somewhat unusual for him after winning six tournaments in 2025 and seven in 2024. However, he enters this tournament with three straight runner-up finishes in his last three events and seems to be getting hot at the right time. Rory McIlroy (+910) is the second choice entering the tournament after his second-straight Masters victory in April. Can Rory McIlroy win back-to-back majors and capture the seventh major championship of his career? Or will Jon Rahm (+1450) or Bryson DeChambeau (+1950) put a LIV golfer back in the major championship winner’s circle? And what if Jordan Spieth (+6300) shocks the world and makes history by completing the career Grand Slam? Let's dive into the full odds for the PGA Championship at DraftKings Sportsbook as of May 12. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. 2026 PGA Championship Scottie Scheffler: +385 (bet $10 to win $48.50 total)Rory McIlroy: +910 (bet $10 to win $101 total)Jon Rahm: +1450 (bet $10 to win $155 total)Cameron Young: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)Bryson DeChambeau: +1950 (bet $10 to win $205 total)Xander Schauffele: +1950 (bet $10 to win $205 total)Ludvig Åberg: +2000 (bet $10 to win $210 total)Matt Fitzpatrick: +2250 (bet $10 to win $235 total)Tommy Fleetwood: +2600 (bet $10 to win $270 total)Brooks Koepka: +3900 (bet $10 to win $400 total)Collin Morikawa: +4000 (bet $10 to win $410 total)Justin Rose: +4600 (bet $10 to win $470 total)Russell Henley: +4800 (bet $10 to win $490 total)Justin Thomas: +5200 (bet $10 to win $530 total)Patrick Cantlay: +5300 (bet $10 to win $540 total)Viktor Hovland: +5700 (bet $10 to win $580 total)Si Woo Kim: +5900 (bet $10 to win $600 total)Nicolai Hojgaard: +6100 (bet $10 to win $620 total)Tyrrell Hatton: +6200 (bet $10 to win $630 total)Min Woo Lee: +6200 (bet $10 to win $630 total)Jordan Spieth: +6300 (bet $10 to win $640 total) Best Outright Bets: Xander Schauffele to win: +1950 (bet $10 to win $205 total) Schauffele has remarkably finished inside the top 20 in 15 of his last 16 major appearances dating back to 2022. While the top-20 market is probably the safest bet, he also has a strong chance to win the tournament outright. In his last five starts on tour, Schauffele has finished in the top 12 four times. He ranks seventh on tour in scrambling and has gained more than two strokes on approach in two of his last five starts. He won two majors in 2024, including the PGA Championship, and has a great chance to become a two-time winner of this event. Matt Fitzpatrick to win: +2250 (bet $10 to win $235 total) Fitzpatrick has arguably been the best golfer in the world this season. He has three wins in his last five starts, along with a close runner-up finish at The Players Championship. Fitzpatrick currently ranks fifth on the PGA Tour in approach play and has gained strokes on approach in 11 of his last 12 starts. His short game has also been elite this year, which will be especially important at Aronimink, as he has gained strokes around the green in eight straight starts. Fitzpatrick looks poised to break through and win a major this season. Long shots and Value Bets to Consider Patrick Cantlay: +5300 (bet $10 to win $540 total) Cantlay might offer the best value in the entire field this week. While his major championship history has not been great, he is far too talented to be listed above 50-1. Cantlay is coming off four straight top-12 finishes, including a T-12 at the Masters, where he surged up the leaderboard over the weekend after opening with a +5 round on Thursday. His putter has held him back at times this season, but he had his best putting weekend of the year last week at the Truist Championship and enters this tournament with real momentum. Robert MacIntyre: +6500 (bet $10 to win $660 total) Short game will be extremely important this week at Aronimink, and MacIntyre is one of the best putters in the world. Despite missing the cut at the Masters earlier this year, his recent major championship form has been strong, as he finished runner-up at the U.S. Open and T-7 at The Open Championship last season. His recent form has not been great, with a missed cut, T-42 and T-60 in his last three starts. However, he seems to elevate his game in big events, which was evident in his fourth-place finish at The Players Championship earlier this year. Adam Scott: +6800 (bet $10 to win $690 total) The last time Adam Scott won a golf tournament was in February of 2020. So why would anyone wager on him this weekend? Because he has been one of the best ball-strikers on Tour this season. Scott has been the top approach player on Tour from inside 100 yards, ranks third overall in total strokes gained on approach, and sits inside the top 10 in several other ball-striking metrics. He already has two top-five finishes this season and brings plenty of major championship experience into the week. While he ranks just 90th on Tour in putting, which has largely held him back from a breakout year, he gained strokes on the greens last week for the first time in five starts. If he can even putt slightly above average again this week, his iron play is good enough to carry him into the winner’s circle.]]>

<![CDATA[Lucas Herbert did not make it easy on himself, but he made it count when it mattered most. The Ripper GC stalwart closed with a 3-under 69 on a dramatic Sunday at Maaden LIV Golf Virginia to win his first individual title, holding off a hard-charging Sergio Garcia by four shots. Herbert navigated a roller coaster back nine at Trump National Washington D.C. — including a nervy stretch around the ninth and 10th holes that briefly tightened the contest — before steadying himself after a rain delay and closing out the final holes in emphatic fashion. "Probably that I can perform pretty damn well when things aren't perfect," Herbert said when asked what made him most proud. "I was pretty sick all week, and I woke up this morning probably feeling worse than I did the last few days. I had Sergio coming at me for 36 holes really hard, and he pushed me the whole way, made me earn that one. I didn't doubt myself. After the rain delay, the way I played those eight shots, I'm so proud of that." Garcia finished solo second at 20 under after a final-round 70, with Bryson DeChambeau third at 19 under following a closing 6-under 66. Dean Burmester finished fourth at 18 under, and Josele Ballester rounded out the top five at 17 under. Herbert's caddie, Nick Pugh, was a central figure throughout the week, guiding his player around a course Herbert had never seen before Thursday. "We just had such a laugh out there," Herbert said. "We said walking to the first tee, we're going to have fun regardless. He's amazing. There's not a good enough word I can speak about him. He deserves it as much as I do." The win came with a significant bonus — Herbert has earned the LIV Golf U.S. Open exemption, earning a spot in the field at Shinnecock Hills next month. It will be his 18th major championship start and a return to the venue where he made his major debut. "My first major ever was at Shinnecock. Nice to go back and see what I've learned since then," Herbert said. "Can't wait to get there and try to play like I did this week." Thomas Detry, who entered the week in position to claim the exemption, finished T6 at 16 under — just shy of what he needed. On the team leaderboard, 4Aces GC claimed the team title in a playoff over Fireballs GC after both teams finished tied at 49 under. Leaderboards Individual Top 10 1. Lucas Hebert (24-under)2. <![CDATA[Lucas Herbert hangs on to his narrow lead, sitting three strokes ahead of Sergio Garcia as the two separate themselves from the pack ahead of Sunday's final round of Maaden LIV Golf Virginia. A tournament win for Herbert would mark his first league victory – and a potential spot in next month’s U.S. Open. Herbert maintained his lead at Trump National Washington D.C. with a solid 4-under 68 in Saturday’s third round, leaving him at 21 under and three shots ahead of Garcia, who shot a 65 to move to 18 under. However, the next players chasing his lead were eight shots behind as Herbert continued to power through the day. Josele Ballester had a solid day with a bogey-free 12-under 60 that ties a league record for lowest round relative to par. The 22-year-old started the day tied for 33rd but is now tied for third at 13 under entering the final round. It’s the biggest one-round jump in leader board position in league history. Ballester's breakthrough has him tied with Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau, Southern Guards GC’s Dean Burmester and HyFlyers GC’s Scott Vincent. Despite his 10 birdies, Garcia's three bogeys kept him out of the lead. Garcia, who has won a LIV Golf tournament in each of the past two seasons, finished the round with back-to-back birdies but has the final round to make one final push to chase down Herbert. The team competition continues to heat up, which was powered by Ballester’s 60. The Fireballs shot a cumulative 28 under, the second-lowest team score for a single round in LIV Golf history. <![CDATA[Lucas Herbert has broken away from the field after 36 holes at Maaden LIV Golf Virginia, leaving him in position to chase his first league victory – and a potential spot in next month’s U.S. Open. Herbert backed up his opening 8-under 64 with an even better round on Friday, a bogey-free 9-under 63 to move to 17 under, giving the youngest Ripper GC member a commanding six-shot lead over Fireballs GC Captain Sergio Garcia. It’s the largest 36-hole lead since LIV Golf switched to a 72-hole format this season and ties for the second-largest lead after any second round in league history. Garcia and Cleeks GC veteran Richard Bland are the only players within 10 shots of the lead, with Garcia at 11 under after shooting a 67 while the 53-year-old Bland shot a bogey-free 66 to move to 7 under. Garcia certainly isn’t ready to concede the trophy to Herbert, but he knows the tournament is now in the hands of the 30-year-old Australian. "If he keeps playing like that, it's going to be very difficult [to catch him]," Garcia said. Crushers GC teammates Charles Howell III and Paul Casey are tied for fourth along with Southern Guards GC’s Dean Burmester at 6 under. LIV Golf’s top three players in points – Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Thomas Detry – are in a five-way tie for 7th. Asked for his strategy in reeling in Herbert, Casey replied: "Nothing you can do. This is going to sound wrong. Am I worried about Lucas? Of course I am, he's leading by 10. Am I worried about Lucas? No, because he's so far ahead, he's leading by 10, so what can I do?" Detry entered this week in position to earn the U.S. Open exemption that goes to the top-3 player in the standings who is not otherwise exempt. But Herbert is now projected to claim that exemption with a win unless Detry can finish solo 4th or better. Herbert’s performance through 36 holes is even more impressive considering he battled the flu earlier this week, limiting his practice time. Until Thursday’s first round, he had not seen the front nine at Trump National Washington D.C. Fully familiar with the course, Herbert found the zone on Friday with a flawless display of iron play, bunker saves and mid-range putting. He produced a string of four consecutive birdies to end his front nine and finished with birdies on his final two holes. Herbert picked up 8.596 strokes on the field – his second-best total in LIV Golf history next to the 10.426 strokes he gained in shooting 61 last year in Mexico City. Garcia managed to stay close to Herbert with four birdies in his final five holes, while Bland also finished strong with birdies in three of his final six holes. Led by Herbert, Ripper GC has command of the team leaderboard at a cumulative 21 under, six shots better than the Cleeks and Crushers. The Rippers entered this week as the leader in points and are seeking their third tournament win of the season. Leaderboards Individual Top 10 1. Lucas Hebert (17-under)2. Sergio Garcia (11-under)3. <![CDATA[Barring a catastrophic injury, the Oklahoma City Thunder will hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy for a second straight season. The reigning champions have breezed through the first five games of this year’s NBA postseason with victories by 9, 12, 13, 18 and 35 points. And you could make the case they didn’t play well in a couple of those games. Scary, isn’t it? This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Oklahoma City is already as high as -200 to win it all. "I would be surprised if they didn’t win the title," Westgate SuperBook vice president of risk management Jeff Sherman told me. "They’re on another level and their closest ‘competition’ comes from a youthful, inexperienced San Antonio team. The Spurs must go through the learning process to reach the success the Thunder have already achieved." If the Thunder take on San Antonio in the Western Conference finals, Sherman estimates the price would be OKC -250 in a best-of-seven series. The price would be even steeper if the Minnesota Timberwolves advanced. As for the NBA Finals, think bigger. "I make OKC -350 against the Knicks," Sherman admitted. With a sweep over the Luka Dončić-less Lakers feeling imminent, now would be the time to buy some Oklahoma City title stock if you’re on the fence. If you don’t want to lay the -170 at Caesars or DraftKings, let’s get creative. Consider wheeling the Thunder with other things. An OKC title parlay with the Colorado Avalanche winning the Stanley Cup pays out over 3/1. That’s a pretty decent shake for two things that are likely to happen, and you’ve converted two favorites into a $3 underdog. Want more? How about a parlay with the Thunder, Avalanche and Portugal to win the World Cup? France is the betting favorite and Portugal is a little down the board at 11/1, but that price explodes the three-teamer to almost 50/1. The best part about that parlay is that the basketball and hockey postseasons will end during group play of the World Cup. So if the Thunder and Avalanche take care of their business, you’ll be in a great spot. You could add a couple other teams to win the World Cup and have three live bullets. Just sayin.’ Earlier this week, I built a four-teamer with Oklahoma City to win the NBA title, Colorado to win the Stanley Cup, Scottie Scheffler to win the PGA Championship and the Chicago White Sox to make the playoffs. That's 250/1. I’m generally against parlays on a day-to-day basis because of the volatility and the unlikeliness of four or five things all happening in the same day. And don’t get me started on four or five things happening in the same game. Sportsbooks love when you bet those. That said, starting a futures parlay with something that Las Vegas already believes is going to happen is a step in the right direction. I highly recommend the Thunder-Avalanche parlay and if you want to add more, be my guest. Thunder up.]]>

<![CDATA[The PGA Tour returns to Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina for the sixth of eight Signature Events this season. The Truist Championship features a 72-player field and serves as a key tune-up ahead of next week’s PGA Championship. The major storyline this week is Rory McIlroy returning after a three-week hiatus following his historic back-to-back wins at The Masters, becoming just the fourth golfer ever to accomplish the feat at Augusta National. While World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will not be in the field this week, Rory McIlroy will still be joined by seven of the world’s top 10 golfers teeing it up. So who will be lifting the trophy at the end of the week? Let's take a look at the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook as of May 5. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. Spaun: +4500 (bet $10 to win $460 total)Justin Thomas: +4700 (bet $10 to win $480 total)Ben Griffin: +4800 (bet $10 to win $490 total)Nicolai Hojgaard: +4900 (bet $10 to win $500 total)Harris English: +4900 (bet $10 to win $500 total) Here is what to know about the oddsboard: The Favorites With Scheffler out of the field, McIlroy opens as the +580 favorite in his first start since winning his second green jacket. Just behind him is Cameron Young at +920. Young enters this event fresh off a win at last week’s Cadillac Championship and in the best form of his career. Over his last seven starts, he has recorded two wins (including The Players Championship) along with five top-10 finishes. That run includes a T-3 at The Masters, where he played in the final group alongside McIlroy. Best Outright Bets Xander Schauffele: +1150 (bet $10 to win $125 total) While Schauffele has yet to win this season, he has remained one of the most consistent top players on Tour. He owns four top-10 finishes this season and has placed inside the top 25 in each of his last seven starts. According to Data Golf, Schauffele has gained strokes on approach in 13 straight events, including more than two strokes at The Masters. His consistent ball striking suggests it’s a matter of when, not if, he wins this season, and this could be the ideal spot given his runner-up finishes at Quail Hollow in 2023 and 2024. Adam Scott: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total) Scott leads the PGA Tour in approach play this season, gaining strokes with his irons in every start. He has gained more than +1.5 strokes on approach in three of his last four events and has recorded two top-five finishes, including a T-4 at last week’s Cadillac Championship. While his putting has held him back from a huge season, there were very encouraging signs in his final round on Sunday, when he delivered his best putting performance of the season. If he carries that over to this week, he could be extremely dangerous. Patrick Cantlay: +3200 (bet $10 to win $330 total) Cantlay enters this week on a run of three straight T-12 finishes, including at The Masters, where he battled back from a +5 opening round and 65th place to make a weekend charge. He carried that momentum into the RBC Heritage, finishing T-8 despite losing nearly a stroke on the greens. If his putter can flip, watch out. Viktor Hovland: +3500 (bet $10 to win $360 total) Viktor Hovland is the definition of boom or bust. While he’s had an underwhelming season by his standards, this course sets up very well for him. He finished T-3 here in his first career start in 2021 and has said the layout suits his game, especially with its length and emphasis on strong driving. He showed flashes at the RBC Heritage a few weeks ago, playing well early before fading over the weekend. He’s still working through some inconsistencies, but his upside is undeniable. Hovland is the type of player who can contend any given week, and at longer odds, he brings clear outright value.]]>

<![CDATA[Sure, the NBA and NHL playoffs offer plenty to wager on at this time of year. And there’s a full slate of MLB games practically every day. But don’t overlook golf for great opportunities. A high-rolling Fanatics Sportsbook customer hit the sweet spot multiple times, leading to a huge six-figure win on Sunday. More on that big payday, along with a well-worth-it nine-month wait and other notable wagers, as we recap the week that was in sports betting. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Welcome, Matt Before last week’s RBC Heritage teed off, a big-dollar bettor went all in on Matt Fitzpatrick to win the PGA Tour event. The customer made four separate straight bets, totaling $34,353, including a $15,000 pop at +1800. Fitzpatrick followed by shooting 65-63-68 over the first three days to take a three-stroke lead into the final round. The only issue: Scottie Scheffler was the player three shots behind. Scheffler made up the difference on Sunday, shooting 67 while Fitzpatrick shot 70. So it was on to a playoff, which Fitzpatrick won with a clutch birdie putt on the first hole. The $15,000 bet alone cashed for $270,000 profit, for a total payout of $285,000. Add in the other three bets, and the customer’s profit ballooned to $614,648 (total payout $649,001). Not a bad weekend’s worth of work, if you can afford it. A couple more RBC big winners: The Waiting Game Nine months ago, a DraftKings Sportsbook customer put together a $21 seven-leg parlay, mostly on futures markets. The ticket was quite diverse, tying the Scottish Open to MLB, NFL, WNBA and even a men’s tennis match. The final leg: Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg averaging more than 16.9 points per game this season. The first eight legs were in by early January, when the Eagles won the NFC East. Then came a three-month wait. That final leg finally became official on April 12, when the NBA regular season ended. Flagg averaged 21 points per game. At massive odds of +299426 — or just beyond 2994/1 — that modest $21 investment turned into a hefty windfall of $62,900.52. I’d say that’s worth the wait. Bettor on a Heater Last week in this space, it was noted that a Fanatics customer went yard with a four-leg parlay on MLB players to hit home runs. A $500 bet cashed out for a ridiculous $334,076 on April 12. That’s a very fluky, extremely unlikely hit. As I try to remind regularly: Parlays are a bookmaker’s best friend. But sometimes, a bettor just gets on a heater. Over the next two days — last Monday and Tuesday — the same bettor hit big two more times. The customer first leaned into another homer parlay, nailing that last Monday night. Then the bettor shifted gears to the NBA, with a $1,250 three-leg parlay tied to the Heat-Hornets play-in game. Monday’s winner, at odds of +8130, profited a healthy $101,631.25 (total payout $102,881.25). Tuesday’s payday netted $62,343.75 in profit (total payout $63,593.75). The grand total for three days: $3,000 in bets, $497,551.48 in profit. Ostensibly half a million dollars. Just unprecedented. Here’s Hoping You Had It It’s not all about making huge wagers to land huge payoffs. Just putting 10 bucks on something with odds of, say, +2000 can put a couple hundred dollars in your pocket. Or perhaps quite a bit more than that, if you were prescient to anticipate a bunch of homers in last Monday’s Angels-Yankees showdown, along with the Diamondbacks’ Nolan Arenado going yard twice. A $10 bet on the Yankees’ Aaron Judge and Angels’ Mike Trout to have two or more homers, in New York’s 11-10 victory, along with Arenado homering twice, would have you now sitting on more than $200,000. Play-In Payouts Last week’s NBA play-in games saw a couple big winners at Fanatics, both on Wednesday night. The bigger bet: A $10,000 in-game play on Warriors moneyline +475 vs. Clippers. Late in the third quarter, Golden State trailed 89-78 on the road. At about that time, the bettor fired away, hoping for a Warriors rally. Steph Curry and Al Horford then made it reality. Curry finished with 35 points, including a key late 3-pointer, his seventh triple of the game. And Horford hit four 3-pointers in the final period of the Warriors’ 126-121 victory. So in ostensibly one quarter of an NBA game, the bettor’s $10,000 netted $47,500 profit (total payout $57,500). On the flip side, a much smaller bet landed a much bigger win, although it was on an 11-leg parlay with much steeper odds. The customer put $100 on a batch of MLB, NHL and NBA moneylines. The final leg: 76ers -125 vs. Magic. Philadelphia pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 109-97 victory. At odds of +89655, just shy of 897/1, including a 10% profit boost promotion, the bettor bagged a payout of $89,755. To reiterate, though: Bookmakers love parlay bets. The more legs, the better. Just keep that in mind, and accordingly, keep your bet size and expectations reasonable.]]>

<![CDATA[In this age of AI, we’re all subjected to a slew of stuff that stretches reality and is often literally made up. So on social media, when you see a $500 bet that cashes for more than $330,000, it’s fair to be a bit skeptical. But in the case of a Sunday parlay banking on home runs, it was indeed legit. Fanatics Sportsbook even sent out a post on X saying so. More on that huge payday, some masterful Masters bets, an NBA parlay that paid big and other notable wagers, as we recap the week that was in sports betting. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Happy Homer Day On Sunday morning, before the MLB slate kicked into gear, a Fanatics customer put $500 on a four-leg parlay of players to hit home runs. Leading off was Yankees slugger Aaron Judge, which is never a bad idea when betting on the long ball. Also on the ticket to go yard at least once was the A’s Nick Kurtz, vs. the Mets, the Tigers’ Kerry Carpenter, vs. the Marlins, and the Pirates’ Brandon Lowe, vs. the Cubs. The customer also utilized a profit boost, which took the odds from an already hefty +55596 (about 556/1) up to +66715 (just beyond 667/1). Lowe wasn’t a long wait at all, homering in the second inning of the Pirates’ 7-6 loss. Kurtz hit a third-inning bomb, the only run of the game in a 1-0 A's victory. Carpenter went yard in the sixth inning of the Tigers’ 8-2 rout. As it turned out, Judge was the big sweat of this bet, homering in the ninth inning of the Yanks’ 5-4 loss. But it doesn’t matter how a bet gets there, only that it gets there. The customer turned that 500 bucks into a whopping $334,076.48. Masters Money The Masters is always a huge draw, for both the public betting masses and the sharp golf bettors. The allure of Augusta National and the event being the first men’s major of the year brings out plenty of action. At DraftKings Sportsbook, a customer plunked down $8,600 on Rory McIlroy winning a second straight green jacket, at odds of +1175. Through two rounds, McIlroy had a six-shot lead and appeared to be on cruise control. But he’s got a habit of making things interesting, and did so throughout the weekend. Still, McIlroy got to the finish line with a winning score of 12-under 276, one shot clear of a hard-charging Scottie Scheffler. So the bettor bagged $101,050 in profit, for a total payout of $109,650. At Fanatics on Saturday, a customer fully expected some home-run fireworks in the Astros-Mariners game, along with a McIlroy Masters victory. The bettor put $57.50 on a four-leg parlay. With hefty odds of +32650 (326/1), and all four legs coming through, the customer walked away with $18,831.25. But it’s not all about five- or six-figure wins. Most of us would be over the moon to turn a few bucks into a thousand or more. A Fanatics customer bet $25 on Shane Lowry +5500 to record a hole in one at the Masters, then utilized a profit boost to hike those odds to +6600. Lowry dunked it on the sixth hole Saturday — the second time he’s recorded a Masters ace — turning that $25 into $1,675. That’s a fine day’s work. Total Takedown There were seven NBA games on Wednesday. A FanDuel Sportsbook customer made two decisions: to get involved in all seven games, and to get an early payout. The bettor put $25 on a seven-leg parlay of first-quarter totals, taking five Overs and two Unders. All seven legs came through, at massive odds of +153393 — or in easier-to-digest terms, almost 1534/1, with the bettor utilizing a profit boost promotion to get those odds. And that’s how 25 bucks becomes $38,373.25. Pretty nice ROI. Here’s Hoping You Had It As noted above, it’s not all about making major wagers to get even more major winners — or, as is often the case, losing major money. After all, it’s sports betting. Vegas wasn’t built on the backs of winners. Sometimes, it’s just about getting a tenner down on something at longer odds for a nice little payday. For example, last Tuesday, Amed Rosario was a hefty +20000 (200/1) to hit two homers in the Yankees’ home game vs. the A’s. Rosario hit a solo shot in the second inning to put New York up 1-0, then launched a three-run bomb in the eighth that gave the Yanks a 5-3 win. If you’d put $10 on that, then you’d have an extra $2,000. Heck, even a $1 bet would’ve bolstered your bankroll by $200. More Homerless Happiness This MLB season, bettors are apparently intrigued by parlays on games to have no home runs. A week ago in this space, I reported a $10 parlay on three games to have no dingers, and the bettor cashed out for more than $16,000. Last Tuesday, a DraftKings customer put a little more skin in the game on a three-leg, no-homers parlay: $500 at odds of +8500 (85/1). The bettor also utilized on an odds boost promotion, hiking the odds to +10200 (102/1). The parlay got there, cashing in for $51,000 profit (total payout $51,500). With that bet and the others above it, it’s always worth this reminder: Parlays are a bookmaker’s best friend. You’re gonna have more losers than winners. So keep your expectations and your bet size reasonable.]]>

<![CDATA[Fresh off predicting a Michigan men’s basketball title, we’ve got a little bit of extra juice rolling into this week’s Masters, at legendary Augusta National Golf Club. It’s golf season's first major and everybody wants picks. Well, almost everybody. Before we get to my favorite Masters looks, it’s extremely important you get the best number in golf. For example, Scottie Scheffler is as low as -137 to finish in the top 10. Scheffler’s range is -137, -150, -160, -165, -186 and -190. Why lay $190 to win $100 when you can lay $137? This is an even better exercise when you’re looking at golfers in the outright market. Take a guy like Jordan Spieth, who is very polarizing. Spieth is as low as 30/1 to win another green jacket and as high as 50/1. Always be shopping. Here are five Masters bets you should consider. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Bryson DeChambeau top-five finish Speaking of polarizing, let’s talk about Bryson. Traditionalists might never root for a guy like him on the PGA side of the fence, but I trust his game. He won his last two LIV starts in Singapore and South Africa, and his performance last year at Augusta was memorable. If his putter is on, he can win the whole thing. I just prefer a top-five wager instead of an outright dart at 11/1. PICK: Bryson DeChambeau (+250) top-five finish Adam Scott top Australian Adam Scott over Tyrrell Hatton As I said on this week’s episode of "Bear Bets," the one name I’ve consistently heard from Vegas people I respect is Adam Scott. He’s getting bet in head-to-head markets, groups and exotics. Westgate SuperBook golf guru Jeff Sherman sent me a couple matchups he keyed with Scott. If guys much smarter than me are doing it, that’s good enough for me. DraftKings offers a market for "Top Australian," and that’s my personal twist on Scott. PICK: Adam Scott (+245) top AustralianPICK: Adam Scott (-130) over Tyrrell Hatton Scottie Scheffler and Ludvig Åberg top-10 finishes This one didn’t require much handicapping. Let’s take two of the best golfers on the planet and bet them to do big things all weekend. Nerd! The Scheffler leg feels almost automatic and if you wheel Scottie with Åberg, it bumps the price out to almost 3/1. Both players must finish top-10 for this baby to cash, but I’m all over it. I’ve certainly made dumber golf wagers. PICK: Scheffler and Aberg (+292) top-10 parlay Justin Rose first-round top-10 finish Maybe you’ve heard Justin Rose is dynamite on Thursdays at Augusta? He’s only finished with the first-round lead five times. Five. Bookmakers have certainly caught on as the price last year was 65/1 and this year’s price is precipitously lower around the 30/1 range. Womp, womp. Barring something crazy, though, he should be in the mix near the top of the board. PICK: Justin Rose (+395) first-round top-10 finish]]>

<![CDATA[This might be LIV Golf's best chance to have one of its players win a green jacket at the Masters. Entering the 2026 Masters at Augusta National in Georgia, there are two LIV players among the top three favorites at most sportsbooks. Both of those players are above even last year's champion, Rory McIlroy. Here's a look at players whose form through LIV Golf's first five events indicates whether they are more or less likely to leave Augusta victorious this weekend. Stock Up: Bryson DeChambeau It seems like a matter of time until DeChambeau has the green jacket put on him. He has had six top-10 finishes at majors over the past two years, including a win at the 2024 U.S. open. In DeChambeau’s last two Masters starts, he’s finished T6 and T5. Last year, he was in the final group with Rory McIlroy before ultimately falling behind the Northern Irishman en route to his win. DeChambeau started the LIV season with a T17 in Riyadh, a third-place finish in Adelaide and a T24 in Hong Kong. Then, he won in Singapore and South Africa. He’s the third betting favorite this week, according to DraftKings, behind Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm. At only 32 years old, DeChambeau is firmly in his prime and clearly steps up at every major. Given his form entering the tournament and his recent results at majors, this could be the year when he gets his jacket. Stock Down: Tyrrell Hatton Hatton has routinely performed well at majors, but his LIV results indicate this might not be the year he dons the green jacket on Sunday night. Hatton has four top-20s and two top-10s at majors over the past two years, including a T9 and T14 in his last two Masters starts. He only has two career top-five finishes at majors in his career, though, although one did come at last year’s U.S. Open. Hatton’s five LIV results this season have been all over the board. He has two top-10s, but his other three finishes are 47, T45 and T38, which don’t inspire confidence. Stock Up: Jon Rahm Rahm, unlike DeChambeau, already has his green jacket, and there are a lot of reasons to believe he’s poised to get another this year. Rahm has finished in the top five of all five LIV events this season, including top-two four times. He also won at LIV Hong Kong. He ranks first in greens in regulation and birdies this year at LIV events, and he’s fourth in driving distance and scrambling. Across the board, Rahm is thriving right now. The one thing he’ll need to be working is his putter. He’s tied for 35th among LIV golfers this season in putting average. He’ll need the flat stick to be on point this weekend to win. Rahm has three top-10s at majors over the past two years and finished T14 last year at Augusta. Last year, he started with a 3-over 75, which kept him from truly contending. Rahm is second on the odds board this week, indicating he might be poised to contend for his second green jacket. Stock Up: Carlos Ortiz Ortiz does not have a lot of experience at major championships. He has only played four majors since the start of 2022, and he’s missed the cut three times. His one result, though, was a T4 at last year’s U.S. Open. In Ortiz’s only start at the Masters, he missed the cut in 2021. After the big two at the top of LIV Golf, Ortiz is next among players who will be at Augusta this weekend in 15th. He has two top-10s in his last three starts and a respectable T21 in Singapore. Ortiz is tied for 10th in birdies among LIV players this season, but the key this weekend for him will be simply finding the fairway and hitting greens. He’s 50th in fairways hit at just 55%, and he’s T33 in making it on the green in regulation on just 71.7% of holes. Stock Down: Bubba Watson Since winning his second green jacket in 2014, Watson has one top-10 finish in 12 starts at Augusta National, including two missed cuts in his last three starts there. This may not be the year the results get better. Through five LIV starts, Watson’s best finish is T28. That’s his only result that is better than T37. Last year at the Masters, Watson ranked first in Strokes Gained: Putting, so the savvy vet still knows how to navigate Augusta well. Whether the 47-year-old can compete over the weekend remains to be seen. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. <![CDATA[Scottie Scheffler has been dominant on the PGA Tour the past four years. Rory McIlroy is the defending Masters champion. But in 2026 Masters odds, it’s not those two getting the most attention from the public betting masses. "The public cannot get enough of Bryson DeChambeau. They love him," Caesars Sports lead golf trader Anthony Salleroli said Wednesday, a day before play opens at Augusta National. Salleroli helps break down odds and action on Masters futures odds and some interesting prop bets. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Buying Bryson Scheffler has two Masters titles among his four major wins, claiming the green jacket in 2022 and 2024. He opened the 2026 season with a win in The American Express, and he has three top-five finishes in six starts this year. However, he hasn’t competed since March 15, when he finished tied for 22nd at The Players Championship. There was good reason for that, as Scheffler took time off ahead of wife Meredith giving birth to the couple’s second child, on March 27. Scheffler is still the favorite at +500, meaning a $100 bet would profit $500 if he wins his third Masters. But that time off apparently has bettors thinking about other players. "It’s definitely hampered the action on Scheffler, not being on the course the last month," Salleroli said of the +500 favorite. "There’s still good interest, but he has slumped to third in ticket count." The public is more so looking to DeChambeau, who over the past few weeks has moved from the +1200/+1400 range to the +800 second choice in odds to win the Masters. DeChambeau is No. 1 in bet count at Caesars. "I’m not surprised in the least bit. He’s coming off back-to-back wins on the LIV Tour. The public really likes him," Salleroli said. Interestingly, the second of those wins came in a playoff against Jon Rahm, who is the +850 third choice in Caesars’ Masters odds. Ludvig Åberg, the +1200 fourth choice, is second in tickets to win at Augusta. Where’s Rory? Last year, McIlroy held off Justin Rose to win the Masters on the first playoff hole, completing a career Grand Slam in the process. This season, McIlroy has just four starts and only one top-10 finish, tying for second at the Genesis Invitational in February. Like Scheffler, he last played in The Players, tying for 46th, a week after withdrawing from the Arnold Palmer Invitational with back issues. Between the injury and the time off, McIlroy is almost an afterthought with bettors, even though he’s the +1100 fourth choice in Masters futures odds. "Mum’s kind of the word on McIlroy. Action has been very muted," Salleroli said. "Last year, it was nothing but Rory buzz, and now it’s completely subsided. He’s not in the top 10 on our ticket list." That makes a repeat McIlroy Masters title a preferred outcome for Caesars. "A muted Rory stands pretty good for the book. And the customers are gonna be happy with anybody high in the ticket count," Salleroli said. Sharp Sides Although Scheffler slid from No. 1 to No. 3 in ticket count at Caesars, he’s drawn some sharp action when the price is right. "When Scottie was at 6/1, we got the sharp takeback," Salleroli said. "There’s some sharp action on Matt Fitzpatrick. He’s in great form and is one of the players coming in off a recent win." Fitzpatrick won the Valspar Championship on March 22, then took the past couple weekends off to prep for the Masters. Salleroli said DeChambeau saw sharp money when he was +1000 or longer, hence the move into +800. And Xander Schauffele drew sharp money in the +1800/+2000 range, helping him move to the +1300 sixth choice in 2026 Masters futures. First-Timers The last time a first-time Masters participant won, Jimmy Carter was in office. That was 1979, when Fuzzy Zoeller donned the green jacket. But Salleroli noted one newcomer in the 2026 field who might be worth a look. "First-timers never win, but some of them will give it a good run," he said. "There’s a lot of Chris Gotterup action. He’s an outstanding talent. He was shot out of a cannon to start the year." Gotterup (+4500) opened the season with a win in the Sony Open, then in his third start took the Waste Management Open in a playoff. He’s been a little bumpy since, but in his last start, he tied for sixth in the Houston Open. Salleroli also mentioned Sam Stevens and Casey Jarvis. Both are long shots, with Stevens +12500 (125/1) and Jarvis +25000 (250/1). Jarvis won the DP World Tour’s Kenya Open and a week later took the South African Open. "One of my personal likings is Jarvis," Salleroli said. "He won back-to-back tournaments. He’s somebody that zero people are talking about. I’m just curious to see how he plays in his first time at the Masters." Top Props Two of the most popular Masters prop bets are tied to two critical junctures: making the cut, and winning the tournament. The Over/Under on the cut line is 147.5, and Salleroli said it’s one-way traffic, with bettors expecting good scoring. "We’re getting tons of Under action on that one. We’re at -210 on the Under. Everybody is thinking that the cut score is going Under 147.5," Salleroli said. "In contrast, we’re getting two-way action on the winning score Over/Under 275.5." Under 275.5 is a modest -130 favorite, with Over 275.5 at even money (+100).]]>

<![CDATA[The Masters isn’t just another major — it’s where legacies are made and long waits finally come to an end. Just last year, Rory McIlroy broke through for his first green jacket and this week, a new group arrives at Augusta chasing that same moment. LIV Golf will once again be well represented at Augusta, with 10 players in the field. Led by Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm, LIV Golf has a real chance to make history this weekend. Since the league’s creation, no player has won the Masters after leaving the PGA Tour for LIV Golf. Rahm might be the headliner coming into the week, and DeChambeau is on a bit of a heater. But there are some other LIV golfers to look out for entering the week. So with that in mind, here’s a look at the LIV players teeing up at Augusta this week. Bryson DeChambeau DeChambeau is heading into this week with plenty of momentum after having won back-to-back LIV events and finished in the top three in three of his last five starts. Augusta has suited him well, with consecutive top-six finishes and a couple of first-round leads. Sergio Garcia Garcia won the 2017 Masters, which made him the third Spaniard to claim a green jacket at Augusta. He’s also made the cut in all 15 of his appearances and has been able to put together four top-10 finishes along the way. Garcia is one of the most seasoned international players heading into this week. Tyrrell Hatton Hatton has made seven cuts in nine Masters starts, highlighted by a career-best T9 in 2024. He’s also played 32 rounds at Augusta, where he posted eight under-par rounds with a low of 68. This season, he’s enjoying his best LIV Golf year yet, playing well off the tee and on par-3s. Dustin Johnson Johnson won the 2020 Masters by five strokes at 20-under, setting a tournament scoring record. He’s made 11 cuts in 15 starts at Augusta, notching five top-10s and 23 under-par rounds with a low of 65. This season, he’s been one of the top performers on LIV Golf in Strokes Gained Putting. Tom McKibbin McKibbin is making his Master's debut this year and is one of just two players from Northern Ireland in the field, alongside McIlroy. He’s been steady on LIV Golf, with four top-25 finishes in five events and several rounds in the mid-60s. Carlos Ortiz Ortiz returns to the Masters for the first time since his 2021 debut, where he missed the cut but managed a round under par with a 71. He’s off to a strong start this season on LIV Golf, ranking second in Strokes Gained Approach. In 2020, Ortiz made history by winning the Houston Open, becoming the first Mexican winner on the PGA Tour in 42 years. Jon Rahm Rahm won the 2023 Masters, becoming the fourth Spaniard to claim a green jacket and the first European to win both the Masters and the U.S. Open. He’s kept that form going this season, picking up three LIV Golf wins and several other strong finishes. With his consistency, Rahm heads into Augusta as one of the top contenders again. Charl Schwartzel Schwartzel won the 2011 Masters, becoming the third South African to claim a green jacket and 50 years after Gary Player did so. In 16 Masters starts, he’s made 11 cuts, earned three top-10 finishes, and posted a low round of 66. That kind of experience shows he can still handle Augusta and be a contender if he’s in form this week. Cameron Smith Smith has been consistent at the Masters, finishing in the top 10 in five of his last eight appearances, including top-five finishes in 2018, 2020 and 2022. He is the only player in Masters history to shoot all four rounds in the 60s in a single tournament. Smith also shares the record for the lowest score by an international player and by a non-winner. Bubba Watson Watson knows Augusta inside and out, having won the Masters in 2012 and 2014. He’s always had a feel for the course, even leading in Strokes Gained Putting at last year’s Masters. This season on LIV Golf has been tough on Watson as he heads into the week without a top-25 finish. LIV Golf hasn’t always had the results it hoped for at the Masters, but this year’s group brings plenty of talent and experience. Most of them should make the cut, and a few could even stick around near the top of the leaderboard. With past champions like Garcia, Schwartzel, Johnson, Watson, and Rahm, there’s some serious experience in the field. Those players know Augusta and can handle the pressure when it counts. If they all play well this week, we could see some big moves as the tournament goes on. By Sunday, one of them might even pull off something historic.]]>

<![CDATA["Bear Bets" are real wagers that Chris "The Bear" Fallica is actually making. Augusta National is undoubtedly a "Tradition Unlike Any Other" — which means that golf enthusiasts, bettors and casual fans can all find something to get excited about when it comes to The Masters. And with the pomp and circumstance on the horizon, I'm sharing with you several of my best bets and predictions for the tournament. Here's where I'm putting my money. Zach Johnson Top Senior This is my favorite bet on the card. Johnson has played well on the Champions Tour and made the cut in the couple of PGA TOUR events he’s played this year. He also posted a top-10 at Augusta National last year. Most notably, for the handicap though, is that the other players he’s competing with here — Angel Cabrera, Vijay Singh, Fred Couples, Mike Weir and Jose Maria Olazabal — are all at least -400 to miss the cut. PICK: Zach Johnson (-102) Top Senior Xander Schauffele Top 10 Xander has five top-10s, including each of the last three years at the Masters. He enters in good form and more importantly, good health. PICK: Xander Schauffele (+138) top 10 (including ties) Cameron Smith to miss cut Smith is a far cry from the player who won The Open Championship, having missed the cut at five straight majors. At this point in his life, he might just be at a place where he enjoys life away from golf with his family living in Australia. And who could blame him? PICK: Cam Smith (+196) to miss cut Tyrrell Hatton vs. Shane Lowry Hatton has finally figured this place out, having posted a top-15 each of the last two years. His putting will always keep the fiery Englishman in the mix. Lowry doesn't have the best track record here, and I also worry about his form and mindset since giving away the Cognizant a few weeks back. PICK: Tyrrell Hatton (+100) vs. Shane Lowry Patrick Reed vs. Brooks Koepka Patrick Reed winner without Rory McElroy, Bryson Dechambeau, Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler I’m very high on Reed this week. The 2018 winner hasn’t been worse than 36th since and has had four top-10s and five top-12s here since. The course will likely play fast this week, and that could cater to what Reed does best — wedge play around the greens. Maybe some of Koepka’s struggles here were health-related, but Reed has a far better track record here. And take away the top four choices, and Reed has as good a chance as any. PICK: Patrick Reed (-138) vs. Brooks KoepkaPICK: Patrick Reed +(2900) winner without Rory McElroy, Bryson Dechambeau, Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele Top 20 Parlay This is a bet where something has to go very wrong to lose. Scottie has never been outside the top 20 here. And outside the first time he played the event, the only other time that happened for Xander was when he was injured and missed the cut. Seems like the price is too good to be true, but I’ll take a big bite. PICK: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele (-110) top 20 parlay Bryson DeChambeau Win; Top 10 With the talk of Scottie, Rory and even guys like Aberg, it seems like Bryson is a little forgotten about entering the tourney. He’s finished fifth and sixth the last two years here and in his last eight majors, he’s got a win, a pair of runner-ups and three other top-10s. He excels in these events on these courses. It would be a complete shock if he wasn't in the mix again, given his play here and considering his current form on the LIV tour. PICK: Bryson DeChambeau (+1050) to winPICK: Bryson DeChambeau (+102) top 10 (including ties)Chris Gotterup Best Score on Par 5s Gotterup might be able to really capitalize on these par 5s given his power. He’s one of the top players on tour in Par 5 scoring and the fact he’s a Masters debutante might not affect his Par 5 play, as it might affect him on the shorter holes. There’s a reason no debutante has won the Masters since 1979, but there’s no reason Gotterup can't go out and potentially post around -11 or so on the 16 Par 5s. And that would put him in the mix to have the best score on Par 5s. PICK: Chris Gotterup (+3800) best score on par 5s]]>

<![CDATA[When it comes to playing in the prestigious Masters, a golfer must be invited to participate in this "Tradition Unlike Any Other." Among the numerous ways that a competitor can secure this highly coveted invitation are by being a previous winner, being in the Official World Golf Ranking Top 50 or placing well enough in a recent major event. In 2025, Rory McIlroy earned the green jacket, but will the Irish golfer don the winners' threads for the second year in a row at the 90th Masters? Let's dive into some of the odds for Augusta at DraftKings Sportsbook as of April 9. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. The Masters 2026 Rory McIlroy: +245 (bet $10 to win $34.50 total)Scottie Scheffler: +340 (bet $10 to win $44 total)Sam Burns: +990 (bet $10 to win $109 total)Xander Schauffele: +1025 (bet $10 to win $112.50 total)Patrick Reed: +1500 (bet $10 to win $160 total)Justin Rose: +1750 (bet $10 to win $185 total)Jason Day: +2100 (bet $10 to win $220 total)Tommy Fleetwood: +2150 (bet $10 to win $225 total)Kurt Kitayama: +3000 (bet $10 to win $310 total)Shane Lowry: +3300 (bet $10 to win $340 total)Brooks Kopeka: +4000 (bet $10 to win $410 total)Hideki Matsuyama: +4200 (bet $10 to win $430 total)Cameron Young: +4500 (bet $10 to win $460 total)Jordan Spieth: +5300 (bet $10 to win $540 total) Best Outright Bets: Jon Rahm to win: +900 (bet $10 to win $100 total) Rahm enters Augusta in arguably his best form since joining LIV. He has a win, three runner-up finishes and a top-five finish in his last six starts. His ball striking is trending back to his 2023 Masters level, gaining strokes off the tee in 23 straight events while flashing elite approach numbers recently. The biggest difference is the putter. After being a weakness in last year’s majors, he’s now gained at least 0.95 strokes putting in four of his last five starts, giving him a much more complete profile. Even without his best putting, Rahm still posted strong major finishes last year with a T14 (tied-for-14th) at Augusta, T8 at the PGA Championship and T7 at the U.S. Open. With Scottie Scheffler not at his usual dominant level lately and Rory McIlroy dealing with injury concerns, this feels like a prime spot for Rahm to make another run at Augusta. Xander Schauffele to win: +1750 (bet $10 to win $185 total) Schauffele has quietly built one of the most consistent Augusta track records in the field, finishing inside the top 10 in five of the past seven Masters. Now, with two majors already under his belt in 2024, he no longer carries the pressure of breaking through on the biggest stage. After an injury-riddled 2025 season, his form is trending at the perfect time. He’s gained strokes on approach in 11 straight starts, including elite +1.32 and +2.11 strokes gained in his last two events, according to Data Golf. The putter has followed, gaining strokes in six of his last seven starts. The results are showing up as well with three top 10s in his last four starts, including back-to-back top fives. With his proven Augusta history and current form aligning, Schauffele looks primed to make a serious run at the green jacket. Matt Fitzpatrick to win: +2300 (bet $10 to win $240 total) Fitzpatrick is putting together the best ball-striking season of his career, currently ranking among the top seven players on Tour. According to Data Golf, he’s gained over a stroke on approach in five of his last six starts, showing elite iron play heading into Augusta. Early-season struggles with the putter held him back from multiple big wins, but that has flipped in a big way recently. He has gained strokes on the greens in each of his last three starts. Pair that with strong driving, where he’s gained in driving distance and accuracy in eight of his last nine events, his all-around game is peaking at the right time. That combination has already translated into results, including a runner-up finish at The Players and a win at Valspar in his last start. As a proven major champion, Fitzpatrick has already shown he can handle the pressure. With his current form, he’s one of the best value plays on the board as he has performed like a top-three golfer on Tour this season while sitting with only the ninth-best odds. Viktor Hovland to win: +4500 (bet $10 to win $460 total) Hovland is the definition of boom or bust, making him a perfect outright play. With him, it’s not a question of if, but when he will win a major championship. Augusta sets up perfectly for his strengths as a true second-shot golf course, and Hovland remains one of the best approach players in the world. He’s gained strokes on approach in 12 of his last 13 starts, showing his elite ball striking is still very much intact. The inconsistency has come from the putter, and it’s a big reason why the results haven’t fully followed this season with just one top 10 finish. Despite that, his form is much better than the actual results suggest, especially with how consistent his approach play has been. His Augusta history is strong with four top 30 finishes in five starts, including a T7 in 2023. If the putter flips for one week, this is exactly the type of stage where Hovland can break through. He’s simply too talented of a golfer to be priced this high. Long shots and Value Bets to Consider Golf is one of the best sports to bet on long shots to win, as there have been several instances of huge underdogs winning major tournaments. For the 2026 Masters, there are a few notable names who have real value from a wagering standpoint. Si Woo Kim to win: +5000 (bet $10 to win $510 total) Kim has one of the best forms on Tour this season, recording six finishes of T13 or better. His ball striking has been world-class, ranking third on Tour in approach while consistently gaining off the tee in each of his last 15 starts and on approach in nine of his last 10, according to Data Golf. Like Hovland, his putting his holding him back. Kim has lost strokes on the greens in six of nine events this season. But there's hope! He has gained strokes putting in each of his last two starts, including his best putting performance of the year last Sunday at the Valero Texas Open in which he gained +2.67 strokes. If that momentum with the putter carries over, Kim has the tee-to-green profile to make major noise at Augusta. Adam Scott to win: +6000 (bet $10 to win $610 total) The 2013 Masters champion returns to a course where he’s consistently thrived, with five top 10 finishes and a runner-up already on his Augusta resume. Even at 45, we’ve seen veterans contend here recently, including Justin Rose, who lost in a playoff last year. Scott's ball striking has been excellent, gaining strokes on approach in 11 straight events, including over a stroke in each of his last four starts. That tee-to-green consistency gives him a strong foundation heading into Augusta. But like the rest, can he improve his putting? He’s lost strokes on the greens in 10 of his last 12 starts, but there are signs of upside, including a strong putting performance earlier this season at The Genesis. With his experience on Augusta’s greens and a recent major contention at the U.S. Open, if his putter heats up, Scott has the profile to cash in at a big price. <![CDATA[Three-time champion Phil Mickelson withdrew from the Masters on Thursday, citing a personal health matter with his family that kept him out of all but one of the five LIV Golf events this year. Tiger Woods said Tuesday he was taking an indefinite leave to seek treatment after his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence in a Feb. 27 crash in Florida. It will be the first time neither Woods nor Mickelson will be at the Masters since 1994, when Woods was a senior in high school and Mickelson had broken his leg while skiing earlier that year. Mickelson called the Masters "definitely the most special week of the year," and his record reflects that. He won his first major at Augusta National in 2004, the last player to win the Masters by one shot with a birdie putt on the 72nd hole. He also won in 2006 and in 2010, one of only eight players to win the Masters at least three times. Mickelson has not shared details of the personal family matter. He sat out LIV's four events to start the year and returned in South Africa two weeks ago, tying for 48th in the 57-man field. "It's just fun to be back playing," he said in South Africa. The only other time Mickelson missed the Masters was in 2022, when he took a leave of absence after inflammatory remarks as the Saudi-funded LIV Golf was preparing to launch. Mickelson accused the PGA Tour of "obnoxious greed" in a Golf Digest interview. In an interview with author Alan Shipnuck for his book on Mickelson, he dismissed Saudi Arabia's human rights record and the killing of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi as a once-in-a-lifetime chance to reshape the PGA Tour. The remarks cost him corporate sponsorships. Mickelson joined LIV later that year. The Masters start on April 9 with a 91-man field, with one spot still available if the winner of this week's Texas Open is not already eligible. Reporting by The Associated Press.]]>

<![CDATA[Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover car crash on Friday, the Martin County Sheriff's Office told media outlets. Authorities said the crash occurred just after 2 p.m. not far from where Woods lives in Jupiter Island. Martin County Fire Rescue said there were no serious injuries, CBS 12 reported. With that said, Woods was arrested and charged with DUI, property damage and refusal to submit, according to ESPN. Woods' manager at Excel Sports did not immediately respond to a text message seeking information. It was the third time Woods has been involved in a car crash, most recently in February 2021 when his SUV ran off a coastal road in Los Angeles at a high rate of speed that led to multiple leg and ankle injuries. Woods said later doctors considered amputation. He also was arrested on a DUI charge in 2017 when south Florida police found him asleep behind the wheel of his car that was parked awkwardly with damage to the driver's side. Woods said later he had taken a bad mix of painkillers. Woods had been working his way back to golf from a seventh back surgery last September. He had not decided whether he could play in the Masters on April 9-12. His last official tournament was the British Open in 2024. Woods ruptured his Achilles tendon in March 2025 and that kept him off the course all season, and then he had another back surgery in September. He managed to play in his indoor TGL golf league on Tuesday night. Reporting by The Associated Press.]]>

<![CDATA[In front of a sold-out, roaring South African crowd, Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau found himself in a playoff for the individual title for the second consecutive week. After outdueling LIV Golf Wild Card Richard T. Lee in Hong Kong, this time he had to stare down a fellow powerhouse in Jon Rahm in an epic heavyweight clash at LIV Golf South Africa. After pulling his drive into the muddy left rough and taking relief from temporary water, DeChambeau produced a moment of pure brilliance — ripping a fairway wood that flew hole-high and settled just 12 feet from the cup for eagle. After Rahm failed to get up and down from the greenside bunker, DeChambeau converted an easy two-putt to win on the first playoff hole. The win marks his second consecutive victory and the fifth LIV Golf victory of his career. As the final putt dropped, DeChambeau, who shot a 5-under 66, was overcome with emotion, fully absorbing the magnitude of the moment. "I've just got to say I love everybody," DeChambeau said with tears in his eyes. "Thank you for supporting. South Africa was unbelievable. I mean, got to be the best LIV event we've ever had." Although Rahm fell just short of his second victory in three weeks, his 8-under 63 to force a playoff was tied for the round of the day and proof of his impeccable form heading into major championship season. On the team leaderboard, Southern Guards GC was unable to convert a nine-shot front-nine lead into a victory on home soil. DeChambeau’s Crushers GC rallied to edge out the South African squad by one shot after shooting a combined 21 under on the day. The Crushers were led by Anirban Lahiri, who fired a clutch 8-under 63, which was tied with Rahm for the low round of the day. Paul Casey and Charles Howell III each shot 4-under 67s. The win for the Crushers was their ninth regular-season victory, giving them the edge over Legion XIII as the winningest team in LIV Golf history. "It's huge. It's huge for our momentum," DeChambeau said of the Crushers team victory. "I said earlier this week that we just needed a little bit of time, and we'd start showing our true colors, and they went out and played stellar today, and I held it down." "That's pretty awesome," Howell III added. "Well, we're also the only team that's stayed together for the whole time. We've never split up. It's been us. Just how about the golf there by Bryson again? That was pretty special golf." The Southern Guards were led by Dean Burmester, who carded 5-under 66 and finished T6, capping off an emotional week where he put on a show for the home fans. "I mean, obviously a little gutted we didn't get it done, but I'm proud to be South African," Burmester said. "I think South Africa showed up, and we've put on the greatest show in golf. I think it's clear to see they're the greatest fans in the world, and they came out in the thousands, and they were behind us all the way." Captain Louis Oosthuizen and Branden Grace shot 4-under 67s and Charl Schwartzel shot a 2-under 69. The runner-up finish was a disappointing result, but the team is proud of what turned out to be one of the best golf tournaments in the history of South Africa. Grace and 4Aces GC star Thomas Detry finished in a tie for third at 23-under after a 6-under 65. <![CDATA[In sports betting, major wagers will always get attention from the public masses. For many of us, it’s kind of a way to live vicariously through high-rollers. Some people even find satisfaction in rooting for those bets to lose. But all of us can root for a winning wager when the amount bet is more relatable — a play that any of us could afford to make. And you can’t get much more relatable than pocket change. Just ask the Fanatics Sportsbook customer who turned two quarters into more than $3,500. More on that winning wager, notable parlay hits and other interesting plays as we recap betting from the past week or so. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. Mix and Match At some point before the Nuggets-Thunder game on Feb. 27, a bettor put the extremely unusual sum of 50 cents on a 10-leg parlay. The ticket included an NBA player prop, a host of UFC results from the Feb. 28 Mexico City card, and three PGA Tour player props in the Cognizant Classic. As you can see, the Fanatics customer didn’t just load up on favorites. Four of the five UFC plays were not only on underdogs, but sizable underdogs. That helped ramp up the odds to a massive +732697, or in easier-to-digest terms, about 7327/1. Somehow, all 10 legs came through. So, that couch-cushions-change bet turned into $3,663. You’ll be hard-pressed to find better ROI than that. College Hoops Heaven On Sunday morning, ahead of the final regular-season games in college basketball, a Hard Rock Bet customer put all of $1 on a 19-leg college basketball parlay. And honestly, if you’re gonna put real American money on 19-leg parlays, then $1 is probably the proper amount. The parlay was a mix of moneyline favorites — meaning those teams just had to win, by any margin — and total points scored. Odds were a huge +305930, or about 3060/1. But the bettor also utilized a profit boost, hiking the odds to 4590/1. Somehow, all 19 legs came in. The bettor got a great sweat out of the Iowa-Nebraska game, after taking Huskers moneyline -300. Nebraska led by six, 68-62, with 1:10 remaining, but got dragged into overtime when Iowa rallied to tie it at 70. The Huskers then got it sorted out and won 84-75, saving the parlay ticket. And the bettor’s one dollar turned into $4,590. Fore Score Last weekend’s Arnold Palmer Invitational produced at least two big wins for PGA Tour bettors. First up: A Fanatics Sportsbook customer put $500 on Daniel Berger +7500 to be the first-round leader at Bay Hill. Berger then shot a blistering 9-under 69 on Thursday. The bettor banked a hefty profit of $37,500 (total payout $38,000). At DraftKings Sportsbook, a bettor put $900 on Akshay Bhatia +6200 to win the Arnold Palmer. As it turned out, Bhatia went to a playoff against Berger. Both players finished at 15-under 273, three shots clear of the field. The playoff ended quickly, with Bhatia’s par beating Berger’s bogey on the first hole. That gave the bettor a windfall of $55,800 (total payout $56,700). Saturday Night Fights UFC 326, held Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena here in Las Vegas, produced a healthy five-figure payday for a Fanatics customer. The bettor put $1,000 on a six-leg parlay, picking the winner in each of six bouts — two underdogs and four favorites. Add those up, and you’ve got odds of +2805, or just beyond 28/1. All six fighters got the job done, and the bettor claimed $28,050 profit (total payout $29,050). Six-Figure Funding Back in college basketball, a Hard Rock Bet customer put together a $250 nine-leg parlay on Saturday. Eight legs were against the spread, and one was on the moneyline: The parlay had odds of +29291 (about 293/1), but the bettor utilized a profit boost, taking those odds all the way to +43936 (about 439/1). All nine teams got through, with a couple of close calls. The closest: Missouri, a home underdog that took Arkansas to overtime tied at 70. In sports betting, it’s often said that overtime is where underdogs go to die. And Unders, too. But Missouri kept it close in the extra five minutes and covered by a half point in the 88-84 loss. So the bettor’s $250 turned into $110,090. Not a bad day’s work. Nets Gain We’ll wrap this up with a move made in prediction markets, which, while controversial, are gaining popularity as a means to trade on sports. On Saturday night in the NBA, the Nets were getting run out of the gym by the Pistons in Detroit. Four minutes into the third quarter, Brooklyn trailed 77-54. At that point, a Kalshi customer decided to take a flier on the Nets, who had just a 1% chance of winning. The trade was for $393.96. The Nets slowly chipped away, but were still down by 10 with 5:29 remaining. Brooklyn just kept pushing, though, and ultimately pulled off a stunning 107-105 victory. That turned the customer’s original $393.96 investment into $23,104. After such extraordinary good luck, perhaps buying a lottery ticket was in order.]]>

The World No. 1 golfer won this tournament in 2022 and in 2024, but in 2025, he finished T-11. With four majors on his résumé, Scheffler stands to face stiff competition against Rory McIlroy, the second name on this list. And Rory's not just second on the oddsboard, he's also the second-ranked golfer in the world. The last time McIlroy won at Bay Hill was in 2018. He finished T15 in last year's invitational. The Champ: You have to scroll down the board a bit to find reigning champ Russell Henley, whose odds to win this weekend are on the longer side at +2700. And winning two in a row is no easy feat. The last player to go back-to-back at Bay Hill was Matt Every (2014, 2015). Tiger Woods also did it, winning in 2012 and 2013. Henley, currently No. 7 in the world rankings, took last year's tournament by rallying with a 2-under 70 to edge out Collin Morikawa.]]>

<![CDATA[Anthony Kim walked out of a PGA Tour scoring trailer at Quail Hollow and straight to the parking lot on May 4, 2012. He put his clubs in the trunk and drove away, vanishing from golf and from public view for 12 years. Kim was all the way back Sunday in Australia, full of swagger and energy, as he capped off a stunning rally — not just in the final round of LIV Golf Adelaide, but in life. Five shots behind Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, he closed with a 9-under 63 for his first win in nearly 16 years. [LIV Golf Adelaide: Notes And Quotes From Anthony Kim's Epic Comeback] He put on an electric show with leg-kicking, fist-throwing reactions for his four straight birdies before LIV's largest and loudest gallery of the season. "I'm too old to be reacting like that because I think I pulled something in my hip," the 40-year-old Kim said to laughter. "But I will say that was all the lows I went through in my life that I got to dig out of. Every putt that went I felt the struggle, and I was overcoming it. It was therapeutic out there to fight through it and come out on top." Those struggles include drug and alcohol addiction so severe Kim considers it a minor miracle he is still alive. He is married with a 4-year-old daughter, Bella, who raced onto the 18th green at The Grange Golf Club and into his arms. "To be able to share this moment — even though Bella won’t understand it, one day she will — and for her to be able to run on the green and see her dad isn’t a loser was one of the most special moments of my life," Kim said. Golf icon Tiger Woods praised Kim's win while speaking with reporters ahead of The Genesis Invitational. "To see him struggle in life … and for him to come all the way back and for him to win and to be as devoted as he is to his family, it's a story in which you just have to wrap your heart around it," Woods said. "We all struggle in life … but for him to fight through it and for Anthony to get to where he has gotten to from the low that he want in is something that, as I said, you have to just wrap your heart around it." LIV Golf took a chance on Kim in 2024 when he played as a wild card, often finishing at the bottom of the small fields. Last season wasn't much better, though he showed signs of progress — 1% better each day is his motto — late last season. He was relegated out of the Saudi-funded league. He tied for fifth in the Saudi International. He had to play a qualifying tournament last month just to get another season on the LIV Tour. Perhaps the final boost of confidence: Dustin Johnson signed Kim to his 4 Aces team when Patrick Reed decided to leave the league. The three-shot victory over Rahm was as big as any moment on LIV, at a time when the league lost two of its bigger names in Brooks Koepka and Reed. All that mattered to Kim was coming full circle. Playing in black shorts — with black calf-length socks and white shoes — in front of a large crowd on a sunny day at The Grange, Kim caught up to Rahm after nine holes and pulled away. Thousands of spectators followed behind him in the 18th fairway when he capped off his amazing day. It was his first victory since the 2010 Houston Open, the last of his three titles on the PGA Tour. He had not finished higher than a tie for 22nd on LIV, last week in Saudi Arabia. He won $4 million — he made just over $4.6 million in his best season on the PGA Tour. Rahm closed with a 71 and DeChambeau shot 74 on a day when the average score was 69.8. Kim reached as high as No. 6 in the world in 2008, the year he played in his only Ryder Cup at Valhalla and needed only 14 holes to beat Sergio Garcia in singles. He moves to just outside the top 200 now that LIV gets world ranking points. The Associated Press contributed to this report.]]>

<![CDATA[Tiger Woods did not rule out a return to the Masters just under two months away, even as his immediate future appears to include just about everything but golf. Woods again painted an uncertain future about when or where he plays next because of a seventh back surgery to replace a disk. He said Tuesday at the Genesis Invitational that he remains plenty occupied, mostly with trying to reshape the PGA Tour schedule. "I thought I spent a lot of hours practicing in my prime," Woods said. "It doesn't compare to what we've done in the boardroom." Those hours also are an obstacle in his decision about being the U.S. captain for the Ryder Cup for the 2027 matches in Ireland. Woods turned down the job two years ago because he didn't think he had the time to do the job justice. Foremost this time of the year is the Masters, which Woods last played in 2024, when he made the cut for a record 24th time in a row. Woods is a five-time Masters champion. Asked if playing the Masters, which starts April 9, was off the table, Woods replied without elaboration, "No." As for his golf anywhere — he turned 50 at the end of last year and is eligible for the PGA Tour Champions — Woods said he is still working his way back from the disk replacement surgery in October and has no timetable for a return. He has yet to play in the indoor TGL matches, either. "Well, I'm trying — put it that way," he said, adding that he can hit full shots, but not every day "and not very well." Last year was the first time in his career he did not compete in a single tournament. He had surgery in March 2025 for a ruptured Achilles tendon, which is no longer holding him back. He said his lower back was sore, and at his age, "It's probably going to take me a little bit longer." "My body has been through a lot," Woods said. "Each and every day, I keep trying, I keep progressing, I keep working on it, trying to get stronger, trying to get more endurance in this body and trying to get it at a level at which I can play at the highest level again." His chief interest is indoors. He is on the board of the PGA Tour and the commercial PGA Tour Enterprises, heading the "Future Competition Committee" that is trying to create a model to meet CEO Brian Rolapp's goal of fewer tournaments that are more meaningful for the best players. The only thing clear is that a new model most likely won't be ready by 2027. The committee has reached agreement on a big start to the season — that could be the week after or before the Super Bowl — taking the big events to bigger markets and becoming the must-see sport of the summer. Another players-only meeting was scheduled Tuesday at Riviera. Rolapp is expected to pull back the curtain on some aspects at The Players Championship in March, with a little more clarity expected in the summer. Among items under consideration is moving some prime California stops — Riviera and Torrey Pines get most of the attention — to August as part of the PGA Tour's postseason. "We're looking at things like that, looking to go to bigger markets later in the year for the playoffs. Just trying to make our competitive model better, and how do we do that?" Woods said, adding that moving the Genesis Invitational to August "certainly is on the table." All the while, Woods said it was important to create a path for the next batch of stars. "We're trying to create opportunities for that turnover ... to get more youth out here because, eventually, they’re going to take over the game," Woods said. "So trying to create that opportunity, trying to create the right competitive model and the environment to foster that, that's been the greater challenge of it all." As for the Ryder Cup, that is also in the wait-and-see mode. The PGA of America waited longer than it ever has before choosing Keegan Bradley for the 2025 matches at Bethpage Black because it was waiting for an answer from Woods. He doesn't appear to have made much headway. "They have asked me for my input on it, and I haven’t made my decision yet," Woods said. "I’m trying to figure out what we’re trying to do with our tour. That’s been driving me hours upon hours every day and trying to figure out if I can actually do our team — Team USA and our players and everyone that’s going to be involved in the Ryder Cup — if I can do it justice with my time." Woods became involved at Riviera in 2017 when his TGR Venture began running the event, and now he is the official host in the same capacity of Jack Nicklaus at the Memorial and the late Arnold Palmer at Bay Hill. Those three signature events are the only ones with a 36-hole cut. Genesis announced it was renewing as title sponsor at Riviera, even amid questions whether it might move to late summer. Genesis also is title sponsor of the Scottish Open in July. There is also a question of how Riviera could be held in August 2028, a month after the Olympics. Reporting by The Associated Press.]]>

<![CDATA[Taylor Swift boosted ticket sales to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-am without even being there. Pebble Beach had an extra buzz Friday morning with rumors swirling in the cool Pacific breeze that Swift would be there to watch her fiancé, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, playing in the PGA Tour event that combines corporate CEOs and celebrities with golf's best. Alas, Swifties, it was just another pretty day at Pebble Beach. It was still good news for the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, which runs the event. Tournament director Steve John said when Kelce was announced as playing in the pro-am, more than $60,000 in tickets were sold over the next 12 hours. Swift is rumored to be in town, but she was not at Spyglass Hill on Thursday, where Kelce was playing with pro partner Keith Mitchell along with Mackenzie Hughes and retired NFL quarterback Alex Smith. No matter. Pebble Beach is the main attraction, and John said some $21,000 tickets for the second round were sold between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday, two hours before Kelce played. More than 1,000 spectators lined the left side of the first fairway at Pebble Beach, but all they saw was Kelce hitting his tee shot to the right, into and out of the trees, and along the cart path (he made a par). Sure, there was plenty of Chiefs gear in the crowd, one young girl wearing a Kansas City sweatshirt. The tournament has a long history of athletes over the years, including Ken Griffey Jr. playing in a group with Tiger Woods some 20 years ago. Roger Clemens once made a hole-in-one. This, however, was clearly a Swift moment. Except that it wasn't. John and his tournament staff left nothing to chance. When he wasn't busy responding to text messages — will she be there or not? — he had plans in place for security, for transportation across the course, even a secure suite overlooking the 18th green. The big crowd — not the largest, but more than usual — followed the Kelce group down the first few holes. They still had four hours left. They had hope. Reporting by The Associated Press.]]>

<![CDATA[2026 LIV Golf League to Feature 57 Players, Including 13 Teams and Five Wild Card Players Wild Card Spots to Be Awarded to Top Three Finishers at LIV Golf Promotions, January 8-11, 2026, at Black Diamond Ranch in Florida More than 80 Players Representing 24 Different Countries are Confirmed to Compete for Coveted Spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League and International Series NEW YORK – LIV Golf today announced it has increased its regular season field size and enhanced the qualifying opportunities for 2026 in the third edition of LIV Golf Promotions, set for January 8–11, 2026, at the acclaimed Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida. The four-day, 72-hole stroke-play event presents one of the most dynamic entry points into the global golf ecosystem, offering coveted spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League and The International Series, sanctioned by the Asian Tour. Beginning this February, LIV Golf’s regular season field size will increase to 57 players, with 13 four-player teams and five Wild Card players competing throughout the League’s global schedule. LIV Golf Promotions will now reward the top three finishers with full-season Wild Card spots in the 2026 LIV Golf League, an increase from the two spots previously announced. The top 10 finishers, including ties, will earn full exemption into the 2026 International Series, the set of elevated events sanctioned by the Asian Tour. The move further enhances the pathways into LIV Golf from 2025 to 2026, with an increase in exemptions from one to two players through The International Series and an increase from one to three players through LIV Golf Promotions. The five qualifying players will compete independently as Wild Cards in 2026 with guaranteed spots in the League’s 13 regular season events. "LIV Golf is committed to moving the sport forward by expanding opportunity and access," said LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil. "We are opening pathways — creating more chances for top talent to compete in the world’s golf league. Adding another qualifying spot strengthens our field and adds excitement to a season built on opportunity, competition, and growth." The top three finishers in LIV Golf Promotions will enter the 2026 LIV Golf League alongside Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent and Japan’s Yosuke Asaji, who sealed their spots as the top two players in the final rankings of the 2025 International Series, which concluded last month at the 2025 PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers at Riyadh Golf Club. Highlighting the global aspect of the LIV Golf League, leading players from all over the world are eligible to participate in LIV Golf Promotions, with 83 players representing 24 countries registered to compete. This year’s field features a strong blend of emerging global talent and proven professionals, with an average age of 30 years old, including former top-50-ranked players, Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup participants, winners on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Asian Tour, and additional rising stars in the game. Forty-seven of the 87 players have won an event in the past two years, including 32 different tournament winners in 2025 (all events eligible with the Official World Golf Ranking/World Amateur Golf Ranking). LIV Golf Promotions will consist of four rounds of 18-hole stroke play. Starting Thursday, January 8, 2026, those who finish in the top 20 and ties from round one will advance to Friday’s round two, where scores will reset, and the field will be joined by a category of players who automatically qualified for day two of competition. The top 20 players and any ties following round two will advance to the third day of competition, with scores reset once more. An intense two-day, 36-hole shootout will commence, and at Sunday’s conclusion, the top three finishers will earn three highly coveted spots in the LIV Golf League for 2026, as well as $200,000 for first place, $150,000 for second place, and $100,000 for third place. The top 10 finishers, including ties, will earn full exemption into the 2026 International Series, sanctioned by the Asian Tour. LIV Golf Promotions offers a total prize purse of US $1.5 million. The current field features many standout names, including: Chris Wood (England): 2016 Ryder Cup player and three-time European Tour winner Pablo Ereno (Spain): 2025 Palmer Cup player and former sixth-ranked player in World Amateur Golf Rankings Miguel Tabuena (Philippines): Two-time Olympian and third-ranked player in 2025 International Series standings Christopher Wood (Australia): Current top-ranked player on the PGA Tour of Australasia Alex Levy (France): Five-time DP World Tour winner LIV Golf League players without a 2026 team commitment who finished the season in the Open Zone (25th-48th), as well as relegated players (49th-54th), also have an opportunity to secure their playing rights for the 2026 season. Several returning LIV Golf players are entered in the field, including Ben Campbell, who competed with RangeGoats GC and finished the season ranked 36th in the LIV Golf standings; Matt Jones, formerly of Ripper GC, who concluded the year in 40th place; and Anthony Kim, a three-time PGA Tour winner and former world No. 6 who was a member of the victorious 2008 United States Ryder Cup team, finishing the season ranked 55th. Each will be competing to regain their League status for 2026. This piece is courtesy of Mike McAllister in partnership with LIV Golf.]]>

<![CDATA[This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. A prop bet is a wager on an outcome other than the final score, like player stats, team milestones, or in-game events. Examples include betting on a quarterback’s passing yards, an NBA player’s 3-pointers made, or whether an MLB player hits a home run. Props are especially popular in the NFL, NBA, and MLB, and have become a big part of U.S. sports culture, as they add extra excitement to viewers. What is a Prop Bet in Sports Betting More formally, a prop bet (short for "proposition bet") is a wager on a specific outcome within a game that isn’t directly tied to the final score or margin of victory. Instead, prop bets focus on individual player performance, team statistics, or other in-game events. Prop bets generally fall into two broad categories: Player props: wagers on individual stats, such as a quarterback’s passing yards, a basketball player’s points scored, or a pitcher’s strikeouts. Team props: wagers on team outcomes, such as which team scores first, total team rushing yards, or the number of three-pointers made. These markets can be offered pre-game or during live/in-game windows, with odds updating in real time as the action unfolds. Sportsbooks and betting apps also occasionally post "exotic" or novelty props, which go beyond standard stats. For example, some of the most popular prop bets during the Super Bowl are the Gatorade color of the winning team, and whether or not the team that wins the coin toss will win the game. How Prop Bets Work for Different Sports and Leagues Prop bets vary by sport, but the concept stays the same: they focus on individual or team outcomes beyond the final score. Below are some commonly offered props across several sports. Keep in mind that there is a lot of overlap between college football and NFL, as well as college basketball and NBA. NFL Props College Football Props NBA Props College Basketball Props MLB Props NHL Props Soccer Props Golf Props Examples of Prop Bets Let's get into specific example of prop bets below: NFL example In the NFL, a common example of a prop bet might be wagering on Patrick Mahomes to throw over 2.5 passing touchdowns against the Raiders. The line is set at +150, which means a $100 wager would return a profit of $150 if Mahomes throws three or more touchdowns (so a total return of $250). Anything less than that and the bet loses. NBA example In the NBA, a prop bet could focus on LeBron James’ rebounding. If the line is set at 7.5 rebounds at -110 for the Over, you would profit $90.91 on a $100 wager if James records at least 8 rebounds. If the bet hits, you’d see a total return of $190.91 ($90.91 profit plus your $100 bet). What Are the Best Betting Sites for Prop Bets? Most sportsbooks offer a wide array of prop bets. Some shine for their market depth, while others stand out for boosts or live options. Here are a few of the best: DraftKings: known for the deepest prop markets, especially around player stats across all major leagues. FanDuel: excellent for same game parlays, letting you combine multiple props from a single matchup. BetMGM: runs frequent prop boosts, adding extra value on player performance markets. Caesars: offers consistently competitive odds on both player and team props. bet365: strong for live prop betting, with markets updating in real time as the action unfolds. <![CDATA[LIV Golf, the Saudi-funded league known for its 54-hole events with shotgun starts, is expanding to 72 holes for the 2026 season and adding a few extra qualifying spots in a move that could boost its bid to be recognized by the Official World Golf Ranking. The name of the league — the roman numeral for 54 — was built around its faster pace over three rounds instead of the traditional four on most other circuits. The shotgun start will remain for a league that is likely to see 57 players. LIV previously said it would take the leading two available players from the International Series ranking on the Asian Tour, and two players from the qualifying tournament in January. Scott O'Neil, the LIV Golf CEO, did not mention the OWGR in the announcement Tuesday, saying only the move to 72 holes marks a "pivotal new chapter" that strengthens the league and challenges the players. "The most successful leagues around the world ... continue to innovate and evolve their product, and as an emerging league, we are no different," O'Neil said. "LIV Golf will always have an eye towards progress that acts in the best interest of LIV Golf and in the best interest of the sport." Bryson DeChambeau, the two-time U.S. Open champion and one of the top figures in LIV Golf, got straight to the point on what the change to 72 holes will mean. "Everyone wants to see the best players in the world competing against each other, especially in the majors, and for the good of the game, we need a path forward," DeChambeau said in a statement released by LIV. "By moving to 72 holes, LIV Golf is taking a proactive step to align with the historic format recognized globally. This is a fantastic evolution of the LIV Golf product, showing how our League listens and adapts to create the best possible experience." LIV Golf Promotions is set for Jan. 8-11 at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Florida, a Tom Fazio design with a dramatic stretch of closing holes built around a quarry. It will be the first qualifying event held in North America — the other two were in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi — and the PGA Tour pushed back by saying there would be repercussions for any of its players who try to qualify. The tour said any member from the PGA Tour or developmental tours who play in LIV Golf Promotions would not receive a release because of the media rights involved with a competing tour in North America. It did not say what the punishment would be, citing its longstanding policy of not disclosing disciplinary matters. The tour also said anyone who is not a member, such as an amateur or someone whose status has not been determined on the PGA Tour Americas, would be banned from any PGA Tour competition for one year. The Promotions event is Jan. 8-11, which now is one week before the start of the PGA Tour season now that The Sentry has been canceled because of water issues at Kapalua in Hawaii. It was not clear if LIV Golf was going to add a 14th team to its league. The team competition will be unchanged and all four rounds will count. It has not said how the team championship at the end of the season will be determined. The OWGR rejected LIV's request for world ranking points when it began, primarily concerned over the closed shop of the league — it had the same 54 players all year except for alternates replacing injured players — and the concerns that team competition could affect the integrity of the individual competition since it was based on the same scores. The 54 holes also was a concern, though there are other tours that receive world ranking points for 54-hole competitions. LIV Golf submitted a new application in June, before its decision to expand to 72 holes. The OWGR is seen as critical because the four majors use the ranking to help determine the field. The U.S. Open and British Open have created a separate qualifying category for LIV players, while the PGA Championship has leaned on its vague "special invitations" to create an opportunity for LIV. The Masters, too, has said it could use its invitations at its discretion to get LIV players it feels is worthy of a spot. The LIV events will be Thursday through Sunday, with the exception of events in Saudi Arabia that end on Saturday. "This is a win for the league, and the players," said Jon Rahm, who has won the individual title in each of his two years with LIV. "Moving to 72 holes is the logical next step that strengthens the competition, tests us more fully, and if the growing galleries from last season are any indication, delivers more of what the fans want." Dustin Johnson said a 72-hole event "just feels a little more like the big tournaments we’ve all grown up playing." LIV Golf begins its fifth season on Feb. 4-7 in Saudi Arabia. Still be determined are players switching teams or trying to play their way onto the league that offers $20 million purses and no cuts. Reporting by The Associated Press. <![CDATA[This wasn't quite a tradition unlike any other, but Charles Howell III rarely got through the early part of the year on the PGA Tour without being asked about the Masters. He grew up in Augusta, Georgia, and no other tournament meant more to him. Now the big change is the calendar and the scenery. Plus, there's no guarantee anyone at the Hong Kong Open this week will even ask Howell about what's at stake. Winning the Hong Kong Open comes with an invitation to the Masters (and the British Open). Howell is part of a field with a heavy influx of LIV Golf players, particularly those who are not already secure for Augusta National or Royal Birkdale. What stands out about Howell is he has not played anywhere but LIV Golf since he joined the Saudi-funded league in July 2022 after playing the John Deere Classic, the last of his 607 starts on the PGA Tour as a professional. Two other chances remain for LIV players after this week, the Australian Open the first week of December and the South African Open the last week in February. The Hong Kong Open has 33 players who competed on LIV this year, 29 of them the entire season. The field includes everyone from Talor Gooch and Paul Casey to Graeme McDowell and Harold Varner III. Gooch has not played outside of LIV Golf in three years. Patrick Reed and Charl Schwartzel are the only players already in the field for the Masters as past champions. The Spanish Open and Japan Open in recent weeks were the first of the six national opens Augusta National identified for awarding spots. There might be another reason Howell chose Hong Kong to play. After some two decades of mainly playing at home, Howell took his wife and two children on a five-week tour of Asia. He played PGA Tour events in South Korea, Japan and Shanghai and explored Hong Kong and Thailand. Howell once recalled being in Hong Kong as 20,000 people involved in pro-democracy protests were in the streets. The trip ended with his kids seeing elephants in Thailand. He called that a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip to for his family. A show of appreciation The letter from Michael Brennan was among 30 in front of the committee at the Bank of Utah Championship that decides on unrestricted sponsor exemptions. Brennan had asked for one a year ago for Black Desert and was turned down, having only turned pro that summer and registered four top 10s on the PGA Tour Americas. It went to Max McGreevy. He stood out this year for obvious reasons. Brennan had won three times on the PGA Tour Americas to easily get to the Korn Ferry Tour, the next level. It was clear even before Brennan won that this exemption was going to someone who appreciated it. Brennan twice went into the tournament office to meet the staff, and thank them for the invitation. He went back a second day in case he missed anyone. And this was before he took a three-shot lead into the final round and converted it into a four-shot win in his first PGA Tour start as a pro. "He came into the office several times, as did his mom and dad," said John Coolbaugh, the tournament director. "Just to say, ‘Thank you.’ We were more than happy to help with his launching point." This was quite the launch. Brennan, 23, now bypasses the Korn Ferry Tour and has a PGA Tour card through 2027. And with his fourth win in a span of 77 days, Brennan moves to No. 43 in the world ranking. If he can stay in the top 50 by the end of the year, he’ll be in the Masters. Billy Ho on the rebound Billy Horschel missed five months recovering from surgery on his right hip, returning to a missed cut at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth (as defending champion) and then finishing 19 shots behind in Japan. In the opening round of the Bank of Utah Championship, he had all sorts of problems in the lava rock and rang up a quadruple-bogey 8. He also had a double bogey Friday and was 3-over par through 22 holes. And then he shot 32 on the back Friday to make the cut, had a 66-66 weekend and closed with five birdies in his last six holes to tie for 11th. "Nice to see my game starting to show life," Horschel said in a social media post. "Still work to do but we are getting closer." After being 4 over through 11 holes and 3 over through 22 holes, not a bad week after all of that. Nice to see my game starting to show life. Still work to do but we are getting closer. PGA Tour Champions The PGA Tour Champions is adding two tournaments, in Portugal and Pennsylvania, to a 2026 schedule that will have 28 events with a total prize fund that tops $69 million. There are also a few tweaks along the way. The Mitsubishi Electric Classic at the TPC Sugarloaf outside Atlanta will use the Stableford scoring system instead of stroke play. The Stifel Classic in St. Louis will replace Richmond, Virginia, as the opening Charles Schwab Cup playoff event. Ernie Els will be the tournament host of the Portugal Invitational, which will be a week after the Senior British Open. The Jefferson Lehigh Valley Classic in Allentown, Pennsylvania, will be the first week in October. The five majors start with the Senior PGA championship, which goes to Concession Golf Club in Florida for the next three years. It will be played April 16-19, one week after the Masters. The Regions Tradition is two weeks later, but no longer the same week as the PGA Championship as it was this year. The final three majors – the U.S. Senior Open at Scioto in Ohio, the Kaulig Companies Championship at Firestone and the Senior British Open at Gleneagles – will be in a four-week span starting July 1. Divots Phil Mickelson has a presence under the PGA Tour umbrella again, at least by name. Under a four-year extension for ATB Financial as title sponsor of a PGA Tour Americas event, the ATB Classic will rotate between Mickelson National in Calgary and Blackhawk in Edmonton. ... Rory McIlroy plans to start 2026 at the Dubai Invitational on the European Tour. He was runner-up in the event when it was last held in 2024. ... ... Michael Brennan was the 15th player to get his first PGA Tour victory this year. ... The indoor TGL league in Florida will have Tuesday matches the week of The American Express and Farmers Insurance Open next January. Stat of the week Rico Hoey played 19 consecutive par 5s with birdie or better from the fourth hole of the first round in Japan through the ninth hole of the final round in Utah. It's the longest such streak on the PGA Tour since ShotLink began in 2003. Final word "It’s a brotherhood out here. It’s not even that – it’s the wives and everyone that gets along. It’s great now to know that I will see them again." – Jordan Gumberg after holing out from 58 yards for eagle on his final hole to retain his European Tour card for 2026. <![CDATA[Team Europe is taking the Ryder Cup back across the Atlantic Ocean, leaving the Americans to search for answers in what is becoming a lopsided series. The Americans at least showed a pulse Sunday and made Europe sweat, storming back from the largest Sunday deficit ever against Europe with real hope. Shane Lowry, who contended with the unruly New York crowds all week, had the last word. He birdied three of the last four holes, and his final putt will be part of Ryder Cup lore for Europe. Russell Henley had a 1-up lead, but his 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th to win the match was short. Lowry holed his 6-foot birdie to halve the match, giving Europe the 14 points it needed to retain the cup as the defending champion. Three matches remained on the course. Lowry said to his caddie walking up the 18th, "I have a chance to do the coolest thing in my life." And he did just that. Europe has now captured the cup 13 out of 19 times since 1979, the start of the modern era, and now has won five of the last 10 Ryder Cups on U.S. soil. Europe's best players starred at Bethpage Black even as New York fans hurled abuse, building a record seven-point lead going into the 12 singles matches. Europe put a half-point on the board before a shot was hit. Viktor Hovland, who had a summer neck injury flare up on Saturday, was forced to withdraw. Harris English, whose name had been put in the secret envelope, also sat out and the match was declared halved. The Americans had to win nine of the 11 matches and halve another and they put up an astonishing fight, finally hearing cheers for the U.S. instead of only vitriol toward Europe.
