<![CDATA[Ohio State's impressive 2025 season provided momentum heading into their annual spring game. The defense, freshman wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. and multiple veteran contributors stood out — even in rainy conditions. Head coach Ryan Day split the roster into two separate teams: Scarlet and Gray. The Gray team took home the win, 35-26. Between the returning talent and the debut of their freshman class, the Buckeyes are shaping up to be a dangerous Big Ten competitor. Ryan Day and the Buckeyes finished the season 12-2, falling short of a College Football Playoff run to Miami (Fla.) in the quarterfinals. However, a returning Heisman finalist in quarterback Julian Sayin and superstar wide receiver Jeremiah Smith will help fuel what's likely to be another powerful Ohio State team. In a higher scoring game, the Buckeyes' offense thrived, but it was the defense that turned heads. Defensive lineman Beau Atkinson stood out early, finishing the day with a sack and interception. Cornerback Devin Sanchez's sole pass breakup against Smith was enough to remind fans of what he's capable of, and he'll be someone to watch this fall. Sayin's first season as Ohio State's starter lived up to the hype, and now has the tools to hit a very high ceiling in Year 2. Sayin's accuracy goes without saying, as he led the nation in completion percentage (77%). The 6-foot-1 signal-caller put his ground game on display, too, scoring a 4-yard rushing touchdown early. The receiving game continues to shine and advance, especially with the addition of five-star Henry. The No. 1-ranked wide receiver in his class was put to the test and did not disappoint. He hauled in four catches for 96 receiving yards, including a 40-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Alongside Smith, a Biletnikoff finalist last season, the duo's combined yards‑after‑catch ability, route‑running and strength instantly elevate Day’s air-raid offense. Ohio State kicks off the 2026 college football season on Sept. 5 at home in Columbus against Ball State.]]>

<![CDATA[We are six days away from the NFL Draft, and the first top-10 pick has reportedly been traded. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, according to NFL Network, is being sent to the Cincinnati Bengals. In exchange, Cincinnati is sending the Giants the No. 10 overall pick in the draft, which starts next Thursday. According to our Ralph Vacchiano, it's a straight swap: Lawrence for the No. 10 overall pick. Lawrence is among the best in the NFL at his position, and he has been looking to be paid as such. The three-time Pro Bowl selection and two-time second-team All-Pro pick wanted a new contract or to be traded. The trade gives the Giants two top-10 picks (Nos. 5 and 10 overall) next Thursday night. It will signal a massive moment for the franchise, which is in its first offseason under new head coach John Harbaugh. The Bengals, meanwhile, have been infamously short defensively during quarterback Joe Burrow's tenure with the team. In Lawrence, they get an elite player in the middle of the defensive line. Lawrence isn't the only major offseason acquisition for the Bengals. They have also acquired linebacker Boye Mafe, who just won the Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks, safety Bryan Cook and defensive tackle Jonathan Allen via free agency. In FOX Sports draft analyst Rob Rang's last mock draft, which focused on the perfect pick for every team, he had the Giants taking Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love at No. 5 overall. Bucky Brooks compared Love to Jamaal Charles in his prospect breakdown. In Geoff Schwartz's latest mock, he had the Giants taking Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa at No. 5. The common theme is that New York should look to complement quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Malik Nabers on offense. However, it now also has to replace Lawrence. With an eye on the 10th pick potentially, ESPN reported that general manager Joe Schoen had dinner with former Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson on Thursday night.]]>

<![CDATA[Lionel Messi has some high expectations for Inter Miami for 2026. He'll aim to lead the Herons to consecutive MLS Cup titles during a season in which they'll be playing at their new Miami Freedom Park stadium. The bigger story for La Pulga may be if Messi can also captain Argentina to back-to-back FIFA World Cup titles this summer, when the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off across North America. All season, we'll be tracking Messi's game-by-game performances, as the GOAT looks to have another epic season. Here's the latest: April 18: Lionel Messi scores twice in win against Colorado Rapids Messi had two goals in Inter Miami's 3-2 win over the Rapids on Saturday to extend the team's unbeaten streak to seven games. Messi, who opened the scoring when he converted a penalty kick in the 13th minute, scored the go-ahead goal in the 79th minute. After a Colorado turnover near midfield, Messi cut back near the right corner of the penalty box and flicked a rising shot that split a pair of defenders and slipped inside the back post. Messi has seven goals this season, tied with Sam Surridge and Petar Musa for the most in MLS. Miami (4-1-3) hasn’t lost since a season-opening 3-0 defeat to Los Angeles FC. April 11: Messi held scoreless in win against New York Red Bulls In the second match played at Inter Miami's new stadium, Nu Stadium, the defending MLS Cup champions settled for their second draw in a row, this time against the Red Bulls, on Saturday night. In the 55th minute, Messi drew four defenders toward him and helped set up Germán Berterame for a second-half goal that gave Inter Miami its first lead. Messi had a couple golden chances, too. He had a stellar run but then slipped on his attempt as his shot was deflected out of bounds. In the 94th minute, Messi almost found the back of the net, but his free kick was ultimately deflected by New York goalkeeper Ethan Horvath. April 5: ‘Nu’ Era underway as Messi nets goal in Inter Miami's new stadium Messi scored on the long-awaited opening night in his new home stadium, and Luis Suárez found a way to tie things up late in the second half. Messi scored on a header in the 10th minute, Suarez hammered home a volley in the 82nd minute and Inter Miami escaped with a 2-2 tie against Austin FC in the defending MLS champions' first match at their still-under-construction stadium near Miami International Airport on Saturday night. Named "Nu Stadium", the venue already has a stand named for Messi — a rare honor for an active player to already have a section of the stadium dedicated to him. MLS Commissioner Don Garber was at the match, lauding the work that David Beckham, who picked Miami 13 years ago, did to get to this day. Inter Miami, which is in its seventh MLS season and third with Messi, has played home matches in Fort Lauderdale until now. Beckham had another legend in attendance with him as Brazil great Ronaldo joined the festivities. Garber touted the stadium opening as the latest sign of growth for MLS. "I think our best days are still ahead," he said. "David shined a light on our league, and Leo’s taking that torch, and he’s showing it around. And we’re getting calls from players around the world." March 31: Messi scores in perhaps last Argentina home match? It didn't take long for Messi to get on the scoresheet in Argentina's 5-0 victory over Zambia at the historic Bombonera in Buenos Aires. Messi assisted Atlético Madrid's Julián Álvarez with an early strike in the fourth minute in what could be the GOAT's final home match for his home country. He wasn't done yet, as Messi would double La Albiceleste's lead himself before the break. Messi had an opportunity to complete a hat-trick when Argentina was awarded a penalty early in the second half. Instead of stepping up and taking the penalty himself, he handed the ball to veteran defender Nicolas Otamendi, allowing him a scoring opportunity in his final home game. Otamendi announced that he will retire the national team following the summer's World Cup. March 27: Messi comes on in second half, held scoreless vs. Mauritania Messi was back in action with Argentina for the FIFA international break. It was the final time the team would play together before the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins later in the summer. Of course, reigning champions Messi and Argentina are expected to be among the heavy favorites to win it all. Before that happens, a couple of friendlies in Buenos Aires against two teams from Africa. Messi started on the bench during Argentina's 2-1 victory over Mauritania and didn't manage to score in the final 45 minutes. Argentina's goals came from Enzo Fernandez and Nicolas Paz, but Messi was the one receiving endless cheers from fans in one of the nation's most historic venues, La Bombonera. March 22: Messi scores key goal in win against NYCFC Inter Miami took home the win against NYCFC on Sunday, with Messi scoring the equalizer. At the 61-minute mark, Messi received a free kick, after what most fans believed was a "soft call." He successfully converted in this opportunity, tying the game and putting the Herons back in contention for a win that night. The first goal of the night came from Gonzalo Lujan, with this also being his first career goal. The game was then iced in the 74th minute by Micael after a set-up by Messi's corner kick. March 18: 900 career goals, but eliminated from CONCACAF Champions Cup What a milestone for the superstar, who has now reached the 900-goal mark in his illustrious club career that has spanned Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Miami, as well as his international duty with Argentina. Messi scored the goal in Wednesday's Champions Cup match against Nashville SC, taking a pass in the middle of the box in the seventh minute, controlled the ball, spun and lined a low shot through a maze of defenders and into the far corner of the net. Despite the historic goal, Nashville tied Inter Miami 1-1, advancing to the tournament quarterfinals on an away-goal tiebreaker. The teams played to a 0-0 tie in Nashville last week in the opening leg of the Round of 16. Messi is second on the all-time goal scoring list behind Cristiano Ronaldo (965), with those two the only ones who are in that stratosphere. Officially, the duo are followed by Romário (765), Pelé (762) and Ference Puskás (725). The next-highest active player is Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski (690). There's some controversy about Pelé's count. Different sources, counting different sets of games, list the Brazilian icon's goal totals anywhere from around 650 in league matches to somewhere near 1,300 in all matches — some against low-level competition. March 14: Messi sits out Inter Miami draw vs. Nashville SC Messi was rested for this game, as coach Javier Mascherano chose to save his energy for the second CONCACAF Champions Cup leg against Nashville SC. In his place, Uruguayan striker Luis Suárez received his first start of the MLS season. Though Saturday ended in a scoreless draw, the game itself stayed spirited. In a heated exchange, Mascherano received a red card in stoppage time. As he protested the booking, he was sent off for foul and offensive language. Ever a lively personality, he sarcastically clapped at the crowd. March 11: Messi stuck at 899 goals after another draw Inter Miami and Messi faced off against Nashville SC in the Herons' first game of the CONCACAF Champions Cup of the season. The Round of 16 ended in a scoreless draw, with Messi staying silent on the statsheet. He attempted one shot in the 55th minute, but 24-year-old Nashville goalkeeper Brian Schwake came up with the save. March 7: Messi scores in win over D.C. United after White House visit Messi scored in the 27th minute, and Inter Miami held on for a 2-1 victory over D.C. United on Saturday night in front of 72,026 at the home of the NFL's Baltimore Ravens. The game was held in downtown Baltimore instead of at D.C. United's smaller venue in Washington. It's the second game this season where Inter Miami's opponents held the match at a larger stadium. LAFC did so in February by changing the game to the L.A. Memorial Coliseum. It was an eventful week for Messi and his team, which visited the White House on Thursday. Inter Miami opened the scoring in the 17th minute when De Paul collected the ball about 15 yards from the goal and struck a shot into the far side of the net. Messi then scored his third goal of the young MLS season, slipping behind the D.C. defense to receive Mateo Silvetti's pass, then flicking the ball with one touch past goalie Sean Johnson. March 1: Messi scores twice in comeback win over rival Orlando City Nothing like scoring twice against your in-state rivals. Especially after being initially down by two. Messi had two second-half goals and an assist in Inter Miami's 4-2 win over Orlando City. It was his first two goals of the 2026 MLS season and the Herons' first win. It was part of a four-goal rally by Inter Miami in the second half, which also included goals by Mateo Silvetti and Telasco Segovia (who also had two assists). Marco Pasalic and Martín Ojedahad initially gave the Lions the lead before Messi and Miami came out with a full head of steam after halftime. Messi's second was a particular beauty as it came off a free kick in the final moments of the game in Orlando. Messi, ever the master at gamesmanship, decided to troll the Orlando faithful by mockingly giving them an autograph. Feb. 26: Messi knocked over by pitch invader in Puerto Rico A curiously timed match between Inter Miami and Ecuadorian club Independiente Del Valle at Puerto Rico's Estadio Juan Ramón Loubriel saw Messi convert a penalty and later tackled by an overzealous pitch invader. The game in Bayamón was supposed to be played in Inter Miami's preseason on Feb. 13 but was moved back due to Messi's hamstring injury. Inter Miami honored the rescheduled match after having already played its MLS season opener. Messi entered at halftime and was cheered loudly anytime he touched the ball. His penalty came in the 70th minute, which sealed the 2-1 victory in the unofficial match. As the game came to a wrap, a pitch invader got tangled up with Messi and a security guard, taking the superstar to the ground. He appeared to be fine as he got up and walked away. Feb. 21: Messi held scoreless in MLS opener Inter Miami began its season with a 3-0 loss at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum against Son Heung-min and LAFC in front of an announced crowd of 75,672 — the second-highest game attendance in MLS history and highest for a season-opening game ever. After the game, a video posted on social media showed Messi following the referees through the tunnel and into a locker room. A visibly angry Messi appeared to be held back by teammate Luis Suárez with the two then exiting the area. The league said that Messi did not violate any policy and that he would not face any suspension. The Associated Press contributed to this report.]]>

<![CDATA[As the madness of March ends, the NBA postseason begins. Let's check out the odds for the first round of the playoffs, at DraftKings Sportsbook as of April 18. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. EAST FIRST ROUND No. 8 ORLANDO (+380) vs. No. 1 DETROIT (-500)Season series: TIED 2-2 GAME 1 — ORL @ DET (April 19) Spread: Pistons -8.5Moneyline: Pistons -325, Magic +400O/U: 218.5 What to know: The Pistons aren't a huge favorite in this series, and it's probably because Orlando is one of the few teams that can match Detroit's youth and athleticism. Also, what is the status of Cade Cunningham? He played three games late in the regular season after returning from a collapsed lung. In those games, he averaged 11.3 points on 44.4% shooting and 18.2% shooting from 3. His form will likely determine the series. No. 7 PHILADELPHIA (+600) vs. No. 2 BOSTON (-900) Season series: TIED 2-2 GAME 1 — PHI @ BOS (April 19) Spread: Celtics -12.5Moneyline: Celtics -800, 76ers +550O/U: 213.5 What to know: There is really only one thing to know when it comes to this series. These teams played four times this year and Jayson Tatum didn't play in any of those games. The Celtics are 13-3 since Tatum's return, and have only lost once at home with him on the court. Is Boston staring at a 2-0 lead in this series? No. 6 ATLANTA (+220) vs. No. 3 NEW YORK (-275)Season series: NYK 2-1 GAME 1 — ATL @ NYK (April 18) Spread: Knicks -5.5Moneyline: Knicks -225, Hawks +185O/U: 217.5 What to know: Oddly enough, in their three regular-season matchups, no home team earned a victory, which could bode well for Atlanta, considering New York has home-court advantage — right? In addition, those three games were decided by a total of just 18 points. In fact, despite losing the season series, the Hawks actually outscored the Knicks by six points across those three games. No. 5 TORONTO (+550) vs. No. 4 CLEVELAND (-800)CLE leads 1-0 GAME 2 — TOR @ CLE (April 20) Spread: Cavs -8.5Moneyline: Cavs -340, Raptors +270O/U: 224.5 What to know: A 36-22 third quarter pretty much sealed Game 1 for the Cavaliers, after they led by seven at half. James Harden and Donovan Mitchell combined for 54 points and 14 assists on 50% shooting. Not a bad playoff debut for the star backcourt. WEST FIRST ROUND No. 8 PHOENIX (+1300) vs. No. 1 OKLAHOMA CITY (-3000)Season series: OKC 3-2 GAME 1 — PHX @ OKC (April 19) Spread: Thunder -14.5Moneyline: Thunder -1100, Suns +700O/U: 215.5 What to know: These two squads played an extra game in the regular season due to the NBA Cup, and one of their matchup came in the last game of the regular season, with both teams resting their stars. Still, Phoenix did pull off a 3-point win over the mighty Thunder back in January. Still, at DraftKings, OKC is favored to sweep the Suns. No. 7 PORTLAND (+1000) vs. No. 2 SAN ANTONIO (-2000)Season series: SAS 2-1 GAME 1 — POR @ SAS (April 19) Spread: Spurs -10.5Moneyline: Spurs -535, Blazers +400O/U: 222.5 What to know: Victor Wembanyama did not play in any of the three games against the Blazers during the regular season, and San Antonio was still able to earn two double-digit wins. The Spurs went 12-6 without their star this season, and 50-14 with him. No. 6 MINNESOTA (+450) vs. No. 3 DENVER (-600)DEN leads 1-0 GAME 2 — MIN @ DEN (April 20) Spread: Nuggets -6.5Moneyline: Nuggets -245, Wolves +200O/U: 230.5 What to know: Denver won a choppy Game 1 behind 25 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists from Nikola Jokić. However, the most telling stat-line was that Anthony Edwards shot 7-for-19 from the field. Can his knee hold up enough to give the Wolves a chance? No. 5 HOUSTON (-575) vs. No. 4 LA LAKERS (+400)Season series: LAL 2-1 GAME 1 — HOU @ LAL (April 18) Spread: Rockets -2.5Moneyline: Rockets -135, Lakers +114O/U: 207.5 What to know: Misfortune struck the Lakers at the end of the regular season, with Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves both suffering injuries that could keep them out of the first round of the playoffs. In the Lakers' two wins over Houston this season, Dončić scored 40 and 36 points.]]>

<![CDATA[Week 4 of the 2026 UFL season kicked off Thursday with the Louisville Kings (1-3) earning their first win of the season in dramatic fashion, outlasting the Houston Gamblers (1-3) in overtime at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston. On FOX UFL Friday, the previously undefeated Dallas Renegades (3-1) were upset on the road by the Columbus Aviators (1-3) at Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. It was also the Aviators' first win of the 2026 season. On Saturday, the reigning champion DC Defenders (3-1) escaped the St. Louis Battlehawks (2-2) in a down-to-the-wire thriller at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. Then, the undefeated Orlando Storm (4-0) shut out the Birmingham Stallions (1-3) with former head coach Skip Holtz, who won three of the past four spring football titles across the UFL and legacy USFL at the helm of the Stallions, in attendance at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama. Here are the results from Week 4: Louisville Kings 24, Houston Gamblers 22 (OT) Key players: Kings QB Jason Bean (17-for-34 for 192 yards), LB Cam Gill (eight tackles, 2.0 sacks, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble), K Tanner Brown (5-for-6, long of 59); Gamblers QB Taulia Tagovailoa (7-for-14 for 64 yards, one rushing touchdown), RB Marcus Yarns (eight carries for 111 yards, one touchdown), WR Justin Hall (4-for-6 for 44 yards), DE Christopher Allen (four tackles, 2.0 sacks, two tackles for loss), K John Hoyland (3-for-4, long of 58). Game recap: Both teams nailed field goals on their opening drives to make it a 3-all game late in the first quarter. Louisville went on a 10-play, 60-yard touchdown drive to take a 10-3 lead early in the second quarter. The road team followed that up with another field goal to extend its lead to 13-3. Houston, on the other hand, had a rocky second quarter. They went three-and-out and then turned the ball over on downs to start. The Gamblers were able to knock in another field goal — this one from 59 yards out — with just over a minute to play until halftime to pull within single digits, 13-6. The Kings got the last word, however, squeezing in one more field goal with seven seconds to spare to take a 10-point lead, 16-6, in the break. Houston came to life in the second half. On the first play from scrimmage in the second half, the Gamblers exploded for a monster 68-yard rushing score to make it a four-point game, 16-12. They followed that up with another scoring drive to take their first lead of the game, 19-16. The Kings opened the third quarter with back-to-back three-and-outs, and that proved catastrophic. With momentum on their side, the Gamblers added another field goal to extend their lead to 22-16 headed into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, the Kings were able to settle in and rattle off back-to-back field goals to knot things up at 22-all. The Gamblers had a chance to take over with roughly a minute remaining in regulation, but a missed field goal from 38 yards kept them from doing so and sent things into overtime. In the UFL, overtime starts in a shootout format where teams alternate two-point conversion attempts from the 5-yard line three times. The Kings converted on their first attempt, and the Gamblers didn't, ending things right then and there. Up next: In Week 5, the Kings are on the road to face the Renegades, and the Gamblers are hosting the Aviators. Columbus Aviators 28, Dallas Renegades 14 Key players: Aviators QB Jalan McClendon (10-for-15 for 126 yards, one touchdown), WR Keke Chism (4-for-5 for 50 yards, one touchdown), TE Alize Mack (3-for-3 for 56 yards), RB John Lovett (15 carries for 80 yards); Renegades QB Austin Reed (13-for-27 for 144 yards, two touchdowns), WR Tyler Vaughns (5-for-9 for 59 yards), WR Drake Stoops (3-for-3 for 31 yards, one touchdown). Game recap: The Renegades came out swinging in this one, cashing in for a touchdown on their opening drive. With that, Dallas took a 7-0 lead into the second quarter. That's when fans were treated to some fireworks in the form of three consecutive touchdown drives — two by the Aviators and one from the Renegades. Columbus got on the board early in the second frame with a short rushing score, then Dallas fired back with a score of its own to regain the lead. The Aviators then scored through the air to knot things up once again at 14-all headed into halftime. Columbus took its first lead of the game early in the third quarter on a fumble recovered in the end zone. It wasn't what the Aviators drew up, but it worked all the same. The start of the second half was quiet for the Renegades, and that momentum was crucial for the Aviators. Columbus scored again early in the fourth quarter to make it a double-digit game, 28-14, midway through the frame. In a stunner, a late-game interception at the two-minute warning sealed the Renegades' fate. With that, Columbus snagged its first win of the season, while Dallas lost its first game. Up next: In Week 5, the Renegades are hosting the Kings, and the Aviators are on the road to battle the Gamblers. DC Defenders 28, St. Louis Battlehawks 22 Key players: Defenders QB Jordan Ta’amu (22-for-36 for 204 yards, two touchdowns, 11 carries for 61 yards), WR Cornell Powell (7-for-13 for 85 yards), K Matt McCrane (4-for-4, long of 56); Battlehawks QB Harrison Frost (6-for-21 for 144 yards, one touchdown), WR Hakeem Butler (2-for-3 for 109 yards, one touchdown), RB Jarveon Howard (eight carries for 85 yards). Game recap: The Battlehawks opened with a field goal to get the scoring going, and the Defenders fired back with a touchdown to take over midway through the frame. Things picked up steam in the second quarter. St. Louis regained the lead with a jaw-dropping 75-yard touchdown from none other than Butler. That gave the road team a 9-7 edge. The ensuing missed extra point proved costly, as DC retook the lead – 10-9 – with a field goal on its next drive. The Defenders followed that up with another touchdown with roughly three minutes to play before halftime to extend their lead to 17-9. The Battlehawks squeezed in a field goal just before the break to make it a five-point game, 17-12. The Defenders added a field goal to start the second half and extend their lead to 20-12. Then, DC notched the first safety of the season, making it a 22-12 game midway through the third quarter. Both teams pulled out all the stops in the fourth. The Defenders rattled off back-to-back field goals, while the Battlehawks cashed in for a touchdown and a field goal to pull within six, 28-22, and keep things competitive late. After DC went three-and-out inside the two-minute warning, St. Louis was gifted a chance to have the final word. Instead, Frost took a deep shot up the middle, and his pass was intercepted in the red zone. With that, the Defenders sealed an all-important win at home. Up next: In Week 5, the Battlehawks are on the road to face the Storm, and the Defenders are traveling to take on the Stallions. Orlando Storm 16, Birmingham Stallions 0 Key players: Storm QB Jack Plummer (17-for-27 for 182 yards, one touchdown), WR Elijhah Badger (3-for-5 for 63 yards), WR Cam Camper (4-for-4 for 44 yards, one touchdown), K Michael Lantz (3-for-3, long of 46); Stallions QB Matt Corral (13-for-20 for 83 yards), QB Michael Hiers (7-for-15 for 60 yards), WR Justyn Ross (2-for-4 for 40 yards), RB Anthony McFarland Jr. (eight carries for 30 yards). Game recap: After back-to-back punts to start the game, the Storm got a spark late in the first quarter. They capped a 13-play, 80-yard drive — that took over seven minutes off the clock — with a short touchdown throw. In the second quarter, Orlando added to its lead with two field goals. The Stallions had a chance to get on the board but missed their only field-goal attempt from 46 yards out. With that, the undefeated Storm took a 13-0 lead into halftime. The third quarter was quiet for both teams, and the Storm added another field goal early in the fourth to make it a 16-0 game. After turning the ball over on downs late in the third, the Stallions did so again on their first two drives of the fourth quarter. From there, Orlando ran out the clock. Birmingham was outmatched on both sides and struggled to find any sort of rhythm. It's the first shutout this season and the third time that a game has been held to single digits or fewer (the Kings were held to nine points in Week 2 and the Gamblers were held to seven points in Week 3). Up next: In Week 5, the Storm are hosting the Battlehawks, and the Stallions are playing host to the Defenders.]]>

<![CDATA[The Kyle Whittingham era is now in full force at Michigan, as the dust has finally settled after a hectic offseason centered around the abrupt firing of former head coach Sherrone Moore. In the Wolverines' spring game on Saturday, the team returned familiar faces in quarterback Bryce Underwood and running back Jordan Marshall, along with a talented freshman class and several key portal additions. Whittingham split the roster into two teams, Maize and Blue. The Blue team edged out the Maize by a low score of 7-6, with the defense on both sides dominating the day. Michigan's defense showed promising flashes throughout the day. Edges Dominic Nichols and Lugard Edokpayi, as well as defensive lineman Enow Etta, proved their talent under new defensive coordinator Jay Hill. With Hill taking over and transfers like Jonah Lea'ah joining the roster, Michigan could be primed for a breakout year on defense. In Underwood's second spring game and his first under Whittingham, he finished 3-for-9 and 22 passing yards — an underwhelming mark by the former No. 1-ranked recruit. The sophomore signal-caller notched 2,428 passing yards and 11 touchdowns last season, but his nine interceptions remain a concern. The win for Underwood is the addition of new offensive coordinator in Jason Beck, who helped elevate Utah's attack last season. With Beck's system and a dangerous one-two punch at running back with freshman Savion Hiter and Marshall, the Wolverines simply need more consistency through the air to become a difficult team to face this fall. For the younger talent, freshman receiver Salesi Moa showed off his skills with a wild one-handed catch from freshman quarterback Tommy Carr, and freshman defensive lineman Bobby Kanka held the line on a massive fourth-and-one to stop the Blue team. Elite players at this age for Whittingham could be dangerous, and their Big Ten slate will be the perfect place to showcase it. Michigan kicks off the 2026 season at home in Ann Arbor on Sept. 5 against Western Michigan.]]>

Virginia star Kymora Johnson to enter portal Junior guard Kymora Johnson, who helped lead Virginia to the Sweet 16 in 2026 as the first-ever First Four team to do so, is preparing to enter the transfer portal, per On3. Johnson has spent all three years of her college career with Virginia, but after the Lady Hoos fired coach Amaka Agugua-Hamilton in a surprise move over the weekend, Johnson is moving on. She led the ACC in minutes per game this past season, for the second year in a row, punctuated by a 50-minute double-overtime performance against Iowa in the round of 32. Johnson was also first in the ACC in assists, averaging 5.9, and scored 19.5 points per game, good for second in the conference behind Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo. Johnson immediately becomes one of the top talents in the women's portal, joining the likes of Iowa State's Audi Crooks and Tennessee's Talaysia Cooper. John Blackwell testing NBA waters, also entering portal John Blackwell is leaving Wisconsin after scoring 19.1 points per game for the Badgers this season. Blackwell issued an Instagram post Monday saying he won’t return to Wisconsin next season and is instead going through the NBA draft process while also entering his name in the transfer portal. The transfer portal for basketball officially opens Tuesday. "This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make because my experience here has been nothing short of incredible," Blackwell said in his Instagram post. "The work I’ve put in alongside the guidance and direction I’ve received from Coach (Greg) Gard and his staff has helped me grow into a player I didn’t know I could become. "But that growth is exactly what’s driving this decision. I believe I owe it to myself and my family to chase the highest level I can reach, and this is the right time to take that step and leap of faith." The 6-foot-4 guard had 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game for Wisconsin as a junior while helping the Badgers go 24-11. He made 2.8 3-pointers per game and shot 38.9% from beyond the arc. He played particularly well late in the year. Blackwell scored 24 points as Wisconsin beat Purdue in its regular-season finale. He averaged 26 points in three Big Ten Tournament games, including 34 against Washington and 31 in an overtime victory over Illinois. Kansas Jayhawks star Flory Bidunga departing Lawrence The Jayhawks' sophomore forward is declaring for the 2026 NBA Draft but is maintaining his college eligibility by entering the portal, per ESPN. Bidunga, a five-star recruit, averaged 13.3 points, 9.0 rebounds and a Big 12-high 2.6 blocks per game, while shooting a Big 12-high 64.0% from the field. Kansas went 24-11 overall and 12-6 in Big 12 play, good for fourth in the conference and enough to earn a No. 4 seed in the 2026 NCAA Men's Tournament. That said, Bidunga and the Jayhawks were eliminated by St. John's in the second round of the tournament. Audi Crooks to enter transfer portal Iowa State junior center Audi Crooks is set to enter the transfer portal on April 7, per ESPN. The move comes after the majority of the Cyclones' existing roster either declared intentions for the portal or were set to graduate – Crooks was the lone top player left on the team following the announcements of junior forward Addy Brown and junior guard Jada Williams. Arianna Jackson is the only starter to announce she would return next season, and Crooks is the 10th Iowa State player to announce plans to enter the portal overall. "I still believe the grass is greener where you water it, and I've done that here," Crooks said in a social media post. "It's why I want you to hear from me directly that I have decided to enter the portal and explore what it means to take root again in new ground." This is significant news not just for Iowa State, but the league in general. Crooks was the second-ranked scorer in the nation in the 2025-2026 season, averaging 25.8 points per game while shooting 65% and pulling down 7.7 rebounds. Crooks led the Big 12 in points per game, shooting percentage, 2P% and effective FG%, and was named a Second Team All-American by the Associated Press and USBWA. Besides rebounds, the 6-foot-3 Crooks does not have much of a defensive presence, but she's one of the most dominant scorers in the nation and ranks fourth in Player Efficiency Rating this season, behind 2026 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year, South Dakota State's Brooklyn Meyer, North Dakota State's Avery Koenen, and UConn's Sarah Strong, putting Crooks ahead of the likes of Notre Dame's Hannah Hidalgo, UCLA's Lauren Betts and Vanderbilt's Mikayla Blakes. Crooks caught the nation's attention as a freshman when she scored 40 points in an NCAA Tournament win over Maryland. Nearly unstoppable in the low post, she scored at least 30 points in 17 games in three seasons and went over 40 five times this season. Tyler Lundblade commits to Tennessee Former Belmont forward Tyler Lundblade reportedly transferred to Tennessee, announcing his commitment on Wednesday. Lundblade was able to forgo college basketball's new April 7 portal opening date because he is a grad transfer. He is an elite perimeter shooter, who led the nation in 3-point percentage (48.1) during his junior season at Belmont in 2024-25, and averaged 15.6 points per game last season. Brown played in just 21 game this season thanks to an unnamed lower-body injury, but at the initial time of her absence she was second on the Cyclones in points, rebounds and assists per game – the versatile star was missed in-season, and the forward's absence for her senior season will leave a hole that Iowa State must fill, as well. Brown averaged 31.5 minutes, 13.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists and just 1.8 fouls per game over her three years for Iowa State. San Diego State guard BJ Davis plans to enter transfer portal After starting 31 games in his sophomore season, Davis took a step back, coming off the bench as a junior at San Diego State. With starting point guard Elzie Harrington continuing to progress, Davis plans to go elsewhere for his final season of eligibility. <![CDATA[Defending LIV Golf Mexico City team champions Legion XIII has delivered a historic performance through two rounds at Club de Golf Chapultepec, building the largest lead after any round in LIV Golf history. Powered by captain and 36-hole individual leader Jon Rahm and a pair of low rounds from Tyrrell Hatton and Tom McKibbin, Legion XIII surged to 25 under at the halfway stage at LIV Golf Mexico City, opening a commanding 19-shot advantage over Fireballs GC entering the weekend. Korean Golf Club and Cleeks Golf Club are tied for third at 3-under, with Torque GC another shot back. Prior to Friday, the biggest lead by either an individual or team in league history was the 14-stroke win by Southern Guards GC – then called Stinger GC – in LIV Golf’s inaugural tournament in London in 2022. "Anytime you have to count and do some math to realize how many ahead you are, it's an amazing thing," Rahm said. "… I'm hoping we all keep playing to the same level, and come Sunday, the last few holes is not even a contest, and we have a 20-something, 30-something-shot lead. That would be amazing. "But you have to expect other teams are going to come in swinging and play good, so we still need to do what we've been doing and play really good golf." Individually, Rahm is back in a familiar position atop the leaderboard, backing up his opening 6-under 65 with a 4-under 67, moving to 10 under for a one-shot lead. Rahm leads a trio tied for second at 9 under, including McKibbin, RangeGoats GC’s Matthew Wolff and Smash GC’s Harold Varner III. Fireballs GC’s Luis Masaveu sits alone in fifth at 8 under. First-round leader Victor Perez slipped into a tie for sixth after a 2-over 73, now three shots off the pace alongside Hatton and Wild Card player Richard T. Lee. Rahm, the league’s current points leader and reigning two-time Individual Champion, once again showed his ability to stay steady — even if Friday wasn’t as smooth as the scorecard suggested. "Today was a bit of a frustrating day," he said. "I think whether it was the wind or the altitude, there was quite a few shots that were on a really good line and were very far off … there [are] things that can happen, but it doesn’t make it any easier." Despite that, Rahm continues to give himself chances as he chases his second win of the year and fourth of his LIV Golf career. The outright lead Friday is the 16th (solo or tied) since joining the league prior to the 2024 season. "I’m clearly playing good enough, I just need to take advantage of the opportunities I’ve been giving myself," he said. "As good as I’m playing, I still feel like it could be better." Wolff delivered one of the rounds of the week so far with a bogey-free 6-under 65, which is no small feat given how he described his ball-striking. "I told my caddie after I finished up, I said, I would have never guessed that that round would be bogey-free," Wolff said. "I feel really good with the putter, so I think that helped a lot." Despite the clean card, Wolff admitted it was far from stress-free. A lengthy par save from 36 feet on the 12th hole highlighted his resilience. "Yeah, extremely," he said when asked if the round was mentally draining. "It’s just stressful … it was kind of the opposite today. I was scrambling a lot." Wolff also credited the energy of the Mexico City crowd while noting the added physical challenge of altitude. "All the kids and the fans are shouting ‘Wolff’… it’s great," he said. "Altitude is hard, though… I was so out of breath." McKibbin matched Wolff’s 65 to give Legion XIII two players inside the top three, while Varner stayed firmly in contention with a 5-under round. Masaveu continued his impressive week with a second consecutive 6-under round, keeping himself within striking distance entering the weekend. Further down the leaderboard, Marc Leishman produced the low round of the day, a 7-under 64, vaulting into a tie for 11th after opening with a 3-over 74. <![CDATA[Per usual, the Los Angeles Dodgers are cracking skulls and taking names, but they're doing so at an even higher level this season. Here's the Dodgers' electric start to the 2026 MLB season by the numbers, entering Apr. 18's slate of games: 0: Relievers Blake Treinen and Alex Vesia have each given up zero runs in eight appearances apiece. 0.50: Through his first three starts, two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani has recorded an 0.50 ERA, 0.72 WHIP, 18 strikeouts and held opponents to a .113 batting average (18 innings pitched). 1: The Dodgers' offense leads MLB with 35 home runs, 320 total bases, a .287 batting average, a .364 on-base percentage, a .499 slugging percentage and an .863 OPS. 1.04: After leading MLB with 10 blown saves — and posting a 4.74 ERA — in 2025, left-handed reliever Tanner Scott sports a 1.04 ERA and 0.58 WHIP through his first 10 appearances this season. 1.05: The Dodgers' combined 1.05 WHIP and 6.2 hits surrendered per nine innings leads the sport. 4: Of backup catcher Dalton Rushing's nine hits, four of them are home runs; he owns a .529/.556/1.353 slash line. 5: The Dodgers have won five of their first six series. 6: Max Muncy leads the team with six home runs, which have all been solo shots. 8: In what was his second MLB start since June 6, 2025, Justin Wrobleski, who has been a primary reliever for the Dodgers, pitched eight scoreless innings and gave up just two baserunners (two hits) against the New York Mets on Apr. 13. 9: Los Angeles has held its opponents to two or fewer runs in nine games. 21: Outfielder Andy Pages has totaled a team-high 21 RBIs, while blasting five home runs, stealing three bases and sporting a .412/.453/.691 slash line. 52: The Dodgers have a +52 run differential, which is second in MLB. 78.9: At 15-4, Los Angeles owns the best record in the sport (78.9% winning percentage). 143: The Dodgers' 143 OPS+ leads the majors. 188: Opponents are hitting just .188 against the Dodgers' starting rotation, which also sports a mere 0.99 WHIP. <![CDATA[There has been nothing Amazin' about the New York Mets' start to the 2026 MLB season. Not only are the Mets in last place in the National League East, but they've lost nine consecutive games and have fallen to 7-13 (35.0% winning percentage) on the year. That's tied for the worst record in the sport. Here's New York's nine-game losing streak (April 8-17) by the numbers: 0: The Mets have been shut out in three of the nine games during this losing streak. 045: First baseman Mark Vientos is batting just .045 since New York's last win (1-for-22). 1: Over the past seven days, they've hit one home run. 2: New York has lost two games with its opponents scoring no more than two runs. 5A: The first five losses in the skid came at home. 5B: Those initial five losses came against two teams that missed the playoffs last season: the Arizona Diamondbacks and Athletics. 6A: The Mets haven't led at any point in six of the nine losses. 6B: Luke Weaver, whom the Mets signed to a two-year, $22 million deal in the offseason, has given up six runs over his past two appearances (1 ⅔ innings). 6.2: Opponents have scored a combined 56 runs against the Mets over this span (6.2 runs per game). 7: The Mets have scored a combined seven runs and drawn just six walks over their past five games, with both totals the worst mark in MLB over the past seven days. 13: Right-hander Kodai Senga has been unable to escape the fourth inning in each of his past two starts, surrendering a combined 13 earned runs, 19 baserunners (14 hits and five walks) and four home runs across 5 ⅔ innings. 16: New York has scored just 16 runs during this losing streak. 22: The Mets' nine-game losing streak is their worst run in 22 years, with New York losing 11 consecutive games in 2004; they finished 71-91 and were managed by Art Howe in 2004. 167: Luis Robert is hitting .167. 810: Left-hander David Peterson owns a combined 8.10 ERA over his past two starts and, stretching beyond the Mets' nine-game losing streak, has given up at least four runs in each of his past three starts.]]>

<![CDATA[The NFL Draft is a beast. Rumors flying all over the place. Trade talk concerning players across the sport, which could involve draft picks in the coming draft. We need a place to store this buzz. With that, here's a tracker for the latest 2026 NFL Draft rumors: Dexter Lawrence trade price The New York Giants are seeking a top-10 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft or a first-round pick plus more draft compensation in any trade for the star defensive lineman, according to the New York Post. Lawrence, who reportedly requested a trade earlier this month in hopes of signing a new contract, totaled career-lows in sacks (0.5), combined tackles (31) and quarterback hits (eight) in 2025. Still, the 28-year-old is a three-time Pro Bowler who logged nine sacks across 12 games in 2024. Lawrence has two seasons remaining on a four-year, $90 million contract. Ty Simpson a first-rounder? The Alabama quarterback is gaining traction to be selected in the first round, per CBS Sports. After serving as a backup for three seasons (2022-24), Simpson was Alabama's starter for the 2025 season. He totaled 3,567 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, five interceptions and a 145.2 passer rating, while completing 64.5% of his passes that season. Simpson's Tide reached the quarterfinal round of the College Football Playoff before losing to Indiana. Most likely New York Jets pick The Jets, who own the No. 2 and 16 picks in the first round, are expected to select either Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese or Texas Tech linebacker David Bailey with the second pick, per CBS Sports. Last season, Reese logged 6.5 sacks, two passes defended and 69 combined tackles, while earning All-American honors; Bailey, who spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career playing for Stanford, racked up a Big 12-high 14.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, three passes defended and 52 combined tackles in 2025. Jeremiyah Love to the desert? There has been "significant buzz" surrounding the Arizona Cardinals selecting the Notre Dame Fighting Irish running back with the No. 3 pick, per SNY. Love, who finished third in the voting for the 2025 Heisman Trophy Award, rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns on 6.9 yards per carry last season, while tallying 280 receiving yards and three receiving scores. He rushed for 17.5 touchdowns per season from 2024 to 2025 on a combined 6.9 yards per carry.]]>

<![CDATA[Jose Soriano pitched two-hit ball into the sixth inning of his fifth consecutive win, Yoan Moncada and Josh Lowe homered, and the Los Angeles Angels snapped the San Diego Padres' eight-game winning streak with an 8-0 victory Friday night. Adam Frazier had an RBI triple and Jo Adell had a two-run double for the Angels, who opened a six-game home stand by blowing out a Southern California rival. Soriano (5-0) continued his spectacular start to the season despite four walks, recording eight strikeouts and lowering his ERA to 0.28 with just one run allowed in his 32 2/3 innings this season. The Angels' ace increased his major league-leading strikeout total to 39, and he joined the Milwaukee Brewers' Aaron Ashby as MLB's only pitchers with five wins. Three Los Angeles relievers wrapped up a combined three-hitter in San Diego's first shutout loss of the season. Before the first pitch, Angel Stadium aired a tribute video and observed a moment of silence for Garret Anderson, the longtime Angels outfielder and franchise hits leader whose death at 53 was announced by the team earlier Friday. The Angels are wearing a patch bearing Anderson’s initials on their uniform shoulders. Matt Waldron (0-1) yielded six runs on eight hits in his season debut for the Padres, who followed a perfect 7-0 home stand with only their second loss in two weeks. San Diego had won 11 of 12 since its 2-5 start to the season. Waldron started 26 games for the Padres in 2024, but just one last year — and then the occasional knuckleballer got a late start in the current season after undergoing a procedure on a hemorrhoid in February. After Moncada's homer began a three-run rally in the second, Soriano escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third by getting Jackson Merrill to ground out. Nolan Schanuel chased Waldron with an RBI single in the fourth before Adell and Lowe delivered two-RBI hits off David Morgan. Soriano left after Manny Machado singled and Xander Bogaerts walked, but Chase Silseth got Gavin Sheets to fly out to the warning track in right. Up next, Germán Márquez (2-1, 5.54 ERA) takes the Big A mound for the Padres on Saturday to face the Halos' struggling Yusei Kikuchi (0-2, 7.50). Reporting by The Associated Press.]]>
