<![CDATA[There are quarterback concerns in Austin after Texas suffered a second straight loss to an unranked opponent. After the Longhorns’ 27-24 loss to Florida, concerns have grown about quarterback Arch Manning and his job security as starter. With No. 7 Ole Miss coming to Austin this Saturday, coach Steve Sarkisian is running out of time if he wants to make a change. Three-time national champion coach and Big Noon Kickoff analyst Urban Meyer believes Manning’s grip on the job could be slipping, and he wouldn’t hesitate to turn to the backup if it gives Texas a better chance to win. "The final two drives against Ohio State, I finally sat down and said, ‘Wow. There’s Arch Manning. Here we go.’ And it’s been in reverse ever since," Meyer said on Monday’s edition of The Herd. Manning led the Longhorns to a thrilling 24-23 comeback win over then-No. 1 Ohio State in Week 2, which put Texas at No. 1 shortly after. After trailing nearly the entire game, the Texas offense put together three consecutive scoring drives to upset the Buckeyes. Manning completed 23-of-27 passes for 198 yards, one touchdown and one interception to cap off the day. Since the heroic win over the Buckeyes, Texas sits 1-2 in SEC play, defeating Tennessee 20-17 and falling to Oklahoma and Florida by identical scores, 27-24. Aside from the upset and now the Longhorns' second straight loss, Meyer noticed that Manning's presence and playing style had shifted. "I see the unsettled feet. I see a lack of confidence. You saw a change that the Wolverines made, and it was instant. The team's excitement and enthusiasm picked up," Meyer said. Meyer was referencing Michigan’s quarterback switch on Saturday. After a scoreless first half against Penn State, coach Kyle Whittingham benched starter Bryce Underwood for backup Tommy Carr at halftime. After a scoreless first half with Underwood, Carr came in and led the Wolverines to a 21-18 win over the Nittany Lions. Now, if Texas had to decide to bench Manning before facing Ole Miss, Meyer wouldn't count out the option. "If the backup can help you win, I’d think about it."]]>

<![CDATA[I played offensive line for eight seasons in the NFL, and before that I spent my Saturdays in Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, blocking for guys who ended up on lists like this one. So when I watch college football now, I watch for the stuff that signaled to me in the huddle whether a guy was for real. I'm picking the 10 players who impressed me most during the previous weekend. Not just the gaudiest stat lines, but the performances that hold up when you turn the tape on. Some weeks, that'll be a quarterback carving up a defense. Other weeks, it'll be a lineman you've never heard of who didn't lose a rep all afternoon. I have a soft spot for those guys. Week 7 gave us plenty. Let's get into it. Bear Bachmeier led BYU to a histroric upset win against Notre Dame this weekend. He threw for 224 yards with a touchdown and interception but what he added on the ground can’t be overlooked. The sophomore signcall caller had 13 rushing attempts for 45 yards and two touchdowns, including an opening drive run that set the tone for BYU’s offensive performance against the Irish defense. Texas Tech dominated Arizona State this weekend. They beat the Sun Devils by almost 30 points and Williams' rushing ability helped the offense produce these points. He had only 11 carries but rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns. The rushing scorers were both explosive runs. The first went 62 yards and the second went 38. This was the best weekend the Tech offense has had all season. Weigman was so good on Saturday night as the Cougars took another step towards a Big 12 title game appearance. He was 24 of 33 for 343 yards and five touchdowns through the air. He also added 11 carries for 52 yards. Just an all-time gritty performance when it was needed the most. Elijah Brown made his first start as Washington's quarterback after Demond Williams was injured for their game against Purdue. He was absolutely wonderful on Friday night, throwing 21 completions on 27 pass attempts for 302 yards and three touchdowns. He did throw three interceptions but played well enough for them to win. The Vols defense was stout and disruptive against Alabama Saturday afternoon. Bama’s offense is high-powered machine, but it wasn’t against these Vols defensive lineman. Both Telander and Weathersby had two sacks, accounting for 80% of the team's sack production. Burgess Jr. had 24 carries for 224 yards against Colorado State on Friday night. He also caught three passes for 52 yards. He is another fantastic performance away from 1000 yards, which is always an incredible feat in FBS play. The Army offense scored 56 points with 481 yards against Florida Atlantic this weekend, and Army’s QB was at the forefront of the production. I love watching his offense work to score points. Hellums had 25 carries for 195 yards and five touchdowns. Just remarkable. Toney literally did it all in a double overtime win for the Canes in a rivalry game. He finished with 11 catches for 154 yards, two receiving scores, two rushes for 31 yards, and he also completed a pass on a massive two-point conversion for Miami. He might be the most dynamic player in college football. Robinson was a massive game-breaker for the Noles, finishing with five catches for 113 yards and two scores. His most impressive play was a 75-yard bomb to tie the game at 28 apiece with just 239 left in the game. While Florida State couldn't pull off the upset, this kid shined brightly all night. James Madison has had three coaches in the last four years, but that hasn't mattered when looking at their consistency. After a 12-2 season under Bob Chesney last year, Billy Napier currently has them at 7-0. Much of that has to do with George Pettaway, who rushed for 119 against Georgia State— his fourth straight game with over 100 yards rushing. He currently ranks eighth in FBS, with 767 on the year.]]>

<![CDATA[The opportunity to turn five bucks into six figures doesn’t come around very often. Pretty much never, to be precise. In a wild weekend of college football and NFL betting, a Hard Rock Bet customer recognized that fact and instead settled for turning $5 into more than $30,000. More on that stunning wager, along with a nearly half-million-dollar bet that connected, plus an incredible long-shot NFL parlay that banked more than $200,000. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. From the noon ET kickoffs right through the prime-time games, college football Week 7 odds saw carnage for the favorites. By now, you probably all know, so here’s the abridged list: One bettor stunningly called all those upsets on a $5 moneyline parlay. But the Hard Rock customer also included Boston College moneyline vs. Pittsburgh and Florida State moneyline vs. Miami. Outright wins from all six teams would’ve netted $119,524. BC indeed got there, knocking off visiting Pitt 27-21. But Florida State, despite a valiant effort as a 20.5-point road underdog, lost 43-35 in double overtime. However, at 9:40 p.m. ET Saturday night, ostensibly midway through the Florida State-Miami and Notre Dame-BYU games, a prescient decision was made. With four of six legs already in, the bettor took a cashout option of $31,056.83. By night’s end, BYU got there, but Florida State did not. If the bettor held onto the ticket, then that $5 becomes nothing. Instead, the customer got massive ROI of 6,200x. Not a bad Saturday's worth of work. From Weeks 3-5, the Bears didn’t have QB Caleb Williams, while he recovered from a hamstring injury. Williams returned in Week 6 against the Falcons. Granted, Williams could’ve been a bit rusty from the layoff. But a DraftKings Sportsbook customer had full faith and credit in Chicago’s signal-caller. The bettor put an eye-popping $465,000 on Bears moneyline -115, just needing Chicago to win by any margin. Williams then went out and had an excellent day. He completed his first dozen passes to help the Bears to a 14-0 lead, and that cushion eventually stretched to 31-7. Williams finished 30 of 36 passing with one TD pass, as Chicago held off Atlanta 31-23. The profit on that major wager was $404,364, for a total payout of $869,364. At Caesars Sports, a customer hit on an absolute lottery ticket in Sunday’s NFL. The bettor put $66 on an 18-leg player prop parlay, with every leg tied to either receptions or receiving yards. Two legs were voided based on injury protection that Caesars offers on such wagers. Still, the other 16 legs all got through. And at absolutely insane odds of approximately +307831, or in slightly easier-to-digest terms, just beyond 3078/1. That transformed $66 into a massive windfall of $203,169. The full list, from Caesars’ post on X: Also at Caesars: It’s one thing to bet on big underdogs pregame. It’s quite another to take them when they’re sizable ‘dogs during the game. That didn’t deter one bettor from crafting a three-team moneyline ‘dog parlay during Sunday’s early slate of NFL games. The Browns, Steelers and winless Titans were all down double-digits in the first half of their games. Still, the customer decided to drop $375 on this in-game ticket: Cleveland came back to win 13-10 on a final-second field goal. Pittsburgh rallied to tie the game at 19 and force overtime, then won 26-19. And Tennessee had a 20-point fourth quarter, including a blocked punt for a touchdown, to upset Indianapolis 26-20. And that’s how you fortuitously turn $375 into $76,540. From an ROI standpoint, it’s hard to do better than this: A Polymarket Sports customer put $690 on wideout Matthew Golden scoring the first TD in the Packers’ game vs. the Cowboys. The price on that trade was 5%, which correlates to odds of about +1900. With 4:43 left in the first quarter, Golden caught a 9-yard pass from Jordan Love to put the Packers up 7-0. And the trader banked $13,110 in profit (total payout $13,800). On the flip side, a Novig customer put $82,939 on the Falcons to beat the Bears, at a price of 48.5% (+106). By the fourth quarter, Atlanta was in a 31-7 hole. The Falcons rallied but came up short, losing 31-23. So that’s a high-five-figure loser. For Thursday’s Seahawks-Broncos game, a Polymarket trader put $5,548.96 on Seattle running back George Holani to score a touchdown. It was a good sweat, stretching into the final six minutes of regulation, but Holani found the end zone. At a price of 16% (+525), the customer profited $29,132.04 (total payout $34,681). How about a more relatable bet amount? Like, say, $3. At Fanatics Sportsbook, a customer with three dollars and a modest dream put together a three-leg player-prop parlay on the Texans-Jaguars game in London. The first leg was the key, with Texans tight end Foster Moreau a healthy +9000 (90/1) to score two or more touchdowns Sunday. Moreau then scored the game’s first TD, with 5:13 left in the first quarter and added a second in the waning seconds of the first half. That clinched the second leg of the parlay, too, which was C.J. Stroud to have two or more TD passes. Harrison finished with 34 receiving yards on three receptions. At odds of +16500 (165/1), the bettor’s three bucks turned into $498. Notwithstanding the aforementioned six-leg upset-special parlay, there weren’t many people willing to put parlay money on the monumental upsets that unfolded Saturday. "I can’t say that we had any four-team parlay tickets with Tennessee-Florida-BYU-Auburn moneyline floating around," Borgata Sports sportsbook director Tom Gable said. But if you’d put $10 on the combination of: Then, at huge odds of +73155 (about 732/1), that parlay would’ve netted $7,315.50. And in the Missed It By That Much Department: At Hard Rock Bet, a customer piled up seven college football underdogs on a $58 parlay. Six legs delivered: However, Mississippi State — the biggest underdog of the batch at +650, vs. LSU — got dunked on 31-0. If the Bulldogs had joined the upset brigade, then the customer would’ve won a whopping $673,649. It’s not all about making big bets or cashing out huge on a 10-leg parlay. Which, to be clear, is rare. Sometimes, it’s about putting 10 bucks on a single straight bet, backing a long shot or semi-long shot and getting a solid return on investment. For example, at DraftKings, the aforementioned Moreau was an even bigger long shot to score two touchdowns, at +14000 (140/1). Putting $10 bucks on that would have you sitting on $1,400 profit today. At FanDuel Sports, Moreau was +4500 in the First TD Scorer market. A tenner there would’ve paid out $450. Also at FanDuel, Jags defensive back/wideout Travis Hunter was +1900 to score a touchdown. Early in the fourth quarter, Hunter collected a 7-yard TD pass from Trevor Lawrence. That’s $190 profit on a $10 bet. Or how about calling out an upset? At FanDuel, Auburn was a +860 moneyline underdog vs. No. 1 Georgia. As noted above, the Tigers pulled off a shocking 27-24 road upset. A $10 bet would’ve profited $86. Not an eye-popping amount, but a nice win to be sure. And if you got frisky and put $100 on Auburn, then the payday would be $860. The biggest reported bet on either NFL Week 6 odds or college football Week 7 odds was the above $465,000 on the Bears. But a couple of major wagers landed on the final game of NFL Week 5, a thrilling showdown between the Bills and Rams last Monday night. A DraftKings Sports customer plunked down $200,000 on Rams moneyline -175. And at Caesars Sports, a bettor put $102,000 on Rams -3.5. Those proved to be big donations to the house, as Buffalo pulled off a 37-34 overtime victory. Other notable major wagers: Per usual, keep in mind that these high-rolling customers not only have the means to make big bets, but the ability to absorb big losses. All of us average Joes and Janes cannot do that. Keep your bet size and expectations reasonable. Never bet more than you can afford to lose.]]>

<![CDATA[Welcome to The Plays that Stood Out, where we take a deep dive into the moments that shaped the past week of NFL games and try to figure out what they could mean for the teams and players going forward. This week, we’re looking at how the Rams blew a late lead to Arizona, exposing a long-standing problem. We’ll give the Packers defense its flowers after putting Dak Prescott through the wringer on Sunday night. We’ll also break down the small detail that helped the Texans steal a key AFC South game. Alright, now it’s officially time to panic. After Sunday’s shocking loss to the Cardinals, the Rams are last in the NFC West and would need to leapfrog four teams to sneak into the playoffs as the last seed. Forget the whole "super team" thing; at this rate, Los Angeles will have to fight just to make the postseason. The loss to Arizona was especially troubling. Sean McVay said there were no positives to take from the game, and I’m inclined to agree. The offense is getting worse every week, and Matthew Stafford isn’t beating the "washed up" allegations. Even if you want to give McVay and Stafford the benefit of the doubt, the defense still has holes that getting Myles Garrett back on the field won't patch—unless the Rams plan to deploy him at middle linebacker or safety. L.A.’s defense is weak up the spine, and the Cardinals exploited it on the play that essentially won them the game. After a vintage Stafford two-minute drill gave the Rams a late one-point lead, Arizona had 47 seconds to gain about 40 yards and get into field-goal range. Jacoby Brissett needed only one play to do it. A facemask penalty added 15 yards to Jalen Brooks' 21-yard reception, and in an instant, the Cardinals had the ball at the Los Angeles 29-yard line. I don’t want to take anything away from Brissett, who made a great throw to get his team into field goal range, but the defense offered little resistance. Take a look at the wide angle when Brissett hits the back of his drop. With the safeties retreating back like it’s a Hail Mary situation, there is A LOT of air in the coverage. Per Next Gen Stats, there’s a 12.1-yard gap between safety Kam Curl and nickelback Quentin Lake, and a 13.6-yard gap separates Kamren Kinchens and linebacker Nate Landman. That leaves acres of space for Brooks to run into. With Landman’s hips turned toward the right sideline, Brissett can make the throw without worrying about the Rams linebacker making a play on the ball. These soft zone coverages seem to be defensive coordinator Chris Shula's default strategy whenever the Rams need a stop in obvious passing situations. It’s not a bad strategy in a vacuum, but Los Angeles doesn’t have safeties or linebackers who can close those windows quickly enough to make it work. Brooks made what should have been a tough, contested catch with little resistance. These crunch-time defensive breakdowns have become routine for the Rams over the past couple of years, since the team adopted this shell coverage philosophy. Since 2022, they rank dead last in stop rate on "clutch drives," per YUNO Sports. This was the most shocking result of the day, but nobody should have been surprised at how it ended. The takeaway: The Rams can’t bank on Garrett’s return to solve all their issues. General manager Les Snead should be working the phones, asking about linebackers and safeties who can solidify the middle of the defense. With three weeks left before the NFL trade deadline, he still has time to swing a deal or two. And with teams starting to fall out of the playoff race—including the one the Rams share a stadium with—plenty of suitors should be willing to pick up the phone. If Snead can’t find reinforcements, a change in defensive philosophy may be in order. Dak Prescott put up a stinker on Sunday night, but Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon deserves the bulk of the credit for crossing his wires all night. Prescott is one of the NFL’s sharpest quarterbacks before and after the snap, but Gannon threw some looks at him that would have left Tom Brady and Peyton Manning scratching their heads. The red-zone interception early in the second quarter was the shining example and set the tone for the rest of the evening. Green Bay starts with seven defenders crowding the line of scrimmage. The Cowboys run a "levels" concept that looks promising before the snap. With only two defenders over three receivers, it looks like CeeDee Lamb will have to beat the deep safety inside to get open for the touchdown. Evan Williams, the other safety, is on the line to the offense’s left, so he surely wouldn’t be tasked with helping on Lamb’s route, right? Welp, that’s exactly what Gannon asked him to do. That’s a diabolical defensive call. Prescott sees Williams bail at the snap and assumes the Packers are playing Cover 2, with the safety dropping to the deep half. That would have left the deep middle vacant for Lamb's route. But the Packers are playing a form of "Quarters" where the backside safety will "poach" any deep over route by the No. 3 receiver (Lamb in this case), leaving the cornerback on that side locked in one-on-one coverage. These "poach" coverages are becoming more common, but you rarely see them run out of that kind of pre-snap look. Gannon threw a nasty curveball at Prescott. The takeaway: I dismissed the Packers as a playoff contender after that ugly Thursday night showing against the Falcons, but I’m willing to take the L on that opinion. Jordan Love is playing his way into the MVP conversation, and Gannon has the defense punching well above its weight thanks to his X’s and O’s. With Micah Parsons back in a few weeks, the unit could reach another level down the stretch. C.J. Stroud has had to drag the Texans offense to competence all season, but on at least one play on Sunday, his job was pretty darn easy. Fortunately for Houston, it was the play that won the game: Woody Marks’ 19-yard catch-and-run that got the Texans into range for Ka'imi Fairbairn’s game-winning kick. No Jaguars defender was within five yards of Marks, and while it’s easy to blame crappy defense, I’m giving most of the credit to the Texans. Specifically, Marks, whose little jab step at the start of the play created the confusion that left him wide open. The Jaguars were playing a specific form of man coverage where the two linebackers worked in tandem to cover the running back. If Marks goes right, the linebacker to that side picks him up in man coverage; if he goes left, the linebacker to that side takes him. Marks ends up going right, leaving Foyesade Oluokun responsible for the coverage. But the former Yale Bulldog processes the play too quickly. He sees Marks take his first step left and shifts his eyes to his next key. By the time Marks takes his first step to the right, Oluokun is looking the other way. You can see Branson Combs pass Marks off to Oluokun, but he’s already got his eyes on Jaylin Noel. Combs realizes what’s going on, but Houston’s play design creates too much traffic for him to navigate, leaving Marks wide open in the flat. It’s easier to parse through everything frame by frame, but watching it in real time shows how quickly NFL defenders have to process information. One little slip-up can cost you a game. The takeaway: I’m still holding onto my Texans stock after their woeful start to the season, and I suggest you do the same. Stroud is playing the best football of his career, and he is finally getting some help. Wide receiver Nico Collins’ return from injury has given him a go-to guy in obvious passing situations, and second-year offensive coordinator Nick Caley is showing promise as a play-caller after an up-and-down 2025 campaign. Caley still needs to figure out the run game, but he’s giving Stroud answers against whatever defenses throw at him. The play that sprung Marks open was just the latest example. If head coach Demeco Ryans’ defense holds up, the Texans will climb back into the AFC South race. 1. The Ravens offense is predictably struggling without Lamar Jackson, but I’ve still been impressed with Declan Doyle’s creativity. Even in the low-scoring loss to Cleveland, the first-year offensive coordinator impressed with two wildly creative calls. This red-zone formation shift left the Browns defense scrambling. Doyle wasn’t finished. Later in the game, the Ravens ran a play I have never seen before. Doyle had tight end Josh Cuevas line up at left guard. Cuevas was an eligible receiver, but the Browns didn’t have time to sort out their assignments, leaving him wide open for a big gain. 2. Not to be outdone by his former assistant Doyle, Ben Johnson broke out the strangest pre-snap motion I’ve ever seen. Tackle Theo Benedet did jumping jacks as he shifted to the other side of the formation, then Caleb Williams ran a successful QB sneak. Johnson also had receiver Zavion Thomas run a jet motion to add another layer of distraction. This is the type of play you’d draw up on the playground in grade school, but you can’t argue with the result. 3. I don’t have words to describe what Josh Allen did on this third-quarter touchdown pass in Buffalo’s win in Las Vegas on Sunday, so let's just watch the clip. This is why the Bills coaching staff puts up with Allen’s silly mistakes and the "arm punts." His creativity is a net positive for the offense. As long as he keeps pulling plays like this out of his you-know-what, defenses will have to respect it, which makes it easier for his teammates. Look at how much attention Allen commands once he goes into scramble mode.]]>

Whether you’re new to daily fantasy or an experienced player looking for your next edge, these platforms provide trusted, legal ways to play across most U.S. states. Monday Night Football closes out Week 6 with San Francisco aiming to stay unbeaten and Washington searching for its second win of the season. Brock Purdy has guided the 49ers to a 5-0 record, while Christian McCaffrey continues to deliver in the backfield. The Commanders will need Jayden Daniels to make plays against one of the league’s hottest teams. Best Daily Fantasy App Promos for New Users (October 2026) Each daily fantasy app offers a different type of welcome bonus, and the best option depends on how you prefer to play. Some promos are designed for quick, low-risk entries, while others reward players who plan to enter multiple contests or commit more upfront. Bet & Get offers are best for players who want to test an app with minimal risk, since you receive bonus entries after placing a small paid entry. These promos are ideal for single-entry players or anyone looking for an easy way to get started. Deposit match bonuses add extra funds to your first deposit, giving you more entry power across multiple contests. This format works best for players who expect to play regularly and want added value over time. First bet safety net offers protect your initial entry by refunding it as bonus credit if it loses. These promos are better suited for confident players who want downside protection on a larger first contest entry. Top DFS Apps Reviewed Daily Fantasy platforms are reviewed by experts with years of experience in sports betting, DFS contests, and app usability. Our goal is to help players identify which platforms offer the best mix of value, variety, and trustworthiness. We evaluate each app using the following criteria: Underdog Daily Fantasy Underdog has quickly become one of the most popular DFS apps in the U.S., thanks to its simple interface, creative contest formats, and beginner-friendly welcome bonus. It’s especially known for Pick’em contests and Best Ball drafts, which give players multiple ways to stay engaged throughout the season. Underdog Welcome Offer Underdog Fantasy User Experience Underdog’s app is designed with a clean, minimalist interface that makes it easy to build entries in just a few taps. Navigation is simple, with clear tabs for Pick’em, Drafts, and My Entries, so players can move between contests without friction. The sleek mobile design performs smoothly on both iOS and Android, giving users a consistent and polished experience no matter their device. The contest entry process is also remarkably fast — lineups can typically be built in under a minute, making it a perfect fit for both casual users and seasoned players on the go. Push notifications round out the experience by keeping players updated on contest status, results, and ongoing promotions, ensuring they never miss out on new opportunities to play. Underdog DFS Promotions & Ongoing Offers Underdog regularly rolls out deposit match offers and reload bonuses, giving both new and existing users added value on their deposits. One of the platform’s signature perks is its "insurance" option for Pick’em entries, which lets players secure a smaller payout if one leg of their entry misses — a popular feature for those who want to reduce risk while still staying in the game. Promotions often ramp up around major sporting events, with seasonal boosts tied to March Madness, the NFL Playoffs, and the NBA Finals. These event-specific offers help keep contests fresh and engaging throughout the calendar year. Underdog also runs a Refer-a-Friend program where both you and your friend receive bonus cash once they join and start playing, adding another layer of value for active users who share the app with their network. Underdog DFS Contest & Game Variety Underdog has carved out its niche by offering a creative mix of contest formats that appeal to both casual and hardcore fantasy players. Its Pick’em games are the most popular, allowing users to select player stat lines (e.g., higher or lower on passing yards, rebounds, or strikeouts) and combine them into multi-leg entries with escalating payouts. For season-long players, Best Ball drafts are a standout feature. These allow users to draft once and let their lineup automatically optimize throughout the season — ideal for fantasy fans who want the draft-day thrill without the weekly management. Underdog also runs large-scale tournaments during NFL, NBA, and MLB seasons, giving users the chance to compete for major prize pools. Overall, Underdog strikes a balance between simple daily contests and long-term engagement, making it one of the most versatile DFS apps on the market. Underdog App User Reviews Our Take On The Underdog DFS App: A Top Pick for Simplicity & Variety Underdog stands out for its balance of beginner-friendly gameplay and deep contest options. The Pick’em format makes it easy for casual users to jump in, while Best Ball leagues give hardcore players a season-long edge. Combined with a generous welcome offer and sleek design, Underdog is one of the most versatile DFS apps on the market. DraftKings Fantasy DraftKings Fantasy is one of the most established DFS platforms in the U.S., offering a massive variety of contests, innovative features, and big prize pools that appeal to both casual and serious players. DraftKings Fantasy Welcome Offer DraftKings Fantasy User Experience DraftKings’ app delivers a polished and feature-rich experience designed for heavy engagement. The interface balances depth and accessibility, offering tabs for Lobby, Contests, Lineups, and Live scoring. The contest selection is one of the deepest in the industry, ranging from beginner-only contests to massive guaranteed prize pools (GPPs) that attract tens of thousands of players. Building lineups is intuitive, with salary-cap formats familiar to most fantasy players. DraftKings also excels at live scoring and tracking — users can follow every point, assist, or touchdown in real time, with leaderboards updating instantly. Push notifications keep players in the loop about contest results, wins, and exclusive promotions. DraftKings DFS Promotions & Ongoing Offers DraftKings is one of the most promotion-heavy DFS platforms, offering frequent deposit matches, free contest tickets, and seasonal promotions tied to major sports events. The platform runs special event contests around the Super Bowl, March Madness, and NBA Finals, often with unique prize pools or boosted payouts. "Mission" style promotions also reward players for completing daily or weekly challenges, such as entering multiple contests or hitting specific stat milestones. In addition, DraftKings’ Refer-a-Friend program gives both the referrer and the new player site credits once the new player deposits and enters contests, making it easy for existing users to share the app. DraftKings Fantasy Contest & Game Variety DraftKings offers the deepest DFS contest library in the industry, with options for every player type and budget. Users can enter classic salary-cap contests, where you build a roster under a set salary budget, or opt for Showdown slates, which focus on single games with unique lineup construction rules. DraftKings also runs a wide range of Guaranteed Prize Pool (GPP) tournaments, head-to-head matchups, multipliers, and 50/50 contests, giving players the ability to choose between safer, lower-variance formats and big-payout tournaments. Seasonal contests and qualifiers for live in-person finals add to the excitement, creating pathways to life-changing winnings. With contests spanning NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MMA, and niche sports, DraftKings remains unmatched in sheer variety. This depth ensures that casual players and seasoned DFS grinders alike can always find something tailored to their style. DraftKings Fantasy User App Reviews Our Take On The DraftKings DFS App: Depth & Prize Pools Set It Apart DraftKings Fantasy is the go-to choice for players who want the widest variety of contests and the biggest prize pools. Its platform is feature-rich without being overwhelming, with tools and formats that cater to every type of DFS player. Between its seamless live scoring, consistent promotions, and massive community of users, DraftKings remains one of the best DFS apps for anyone serious about daily fantasy sports. Betr also includes a Refer-a-Friend program, rewarding both new and existing users with bonus funds once the new user makes a deposit and joins contests. Betr DFS Contest & Game Variety Betr takes a simpler, more streamlined approach to contest variety compared to the giants of DFS. Its focus is on straightforward Pick’em-style games, where users select player outcomes across multiple sports and combine them into entries with tiered payouts. While Betr doesn’t yet have the same contest depth as DraftKings or Underdog, it leans heavily into accessibility — contests are designed to be fast, easy to understand, and low-barrier to entry, making it a strong option for new DFS players. The app also introduces frequent promotional contests and free-to-play events, tied to marquee sporting events like the Super Bowl, NBA Playoffs, or March Madness. As Betr continues to expand, it’s carving out a niche for users who want quick, rewarding DFS gameplay without the complexity of salary caps or massive multi-entry tournaments. Betr App User Reviews Our Take On The Betr DFS App: Great for New Players Looking for Value Betr stands out as a beginner-friendly DFS platform with a strong focus on promotions and accessibility. The combination of two No Sweat Entries plus a $200 deposit match makes it one of the most valuable entry points in DFS today. While its contest depth is still growing compared to giants like DraftKings, Betr is an excellent option for players seeking simplicity, steady promos, and an easy way to get started. Sleeper Daily Fantasy App Sleeper has built its reputation as one of the most community-driven DFS apps, combining fantasy gameplay with strong social features. The platform also introduces creative promotions during events like NFL Kickoff, March Madness, and NBA Playoffs, giving players a reason to stay engaged beyond the standard contests. Its Refer-a-Friend program encourages organic growth, with both parties receiving bonus funds once the referral signs up and makes a deposit. This steady mix of rewards keeps Sleeper competitive with larger DFS platforms while reinforcing its social-first approach. Sleeper DFS Contest & Game Variety Sleeper focuses primarily on Pick’em-style contests, where users predict player outcomes across different sports and combine them into entries for tiered payouts. The app also leverages its legacy in season-long leagues, offering Best Ball-style contests for players who prefer longer-term engagement. While its contest depth is narrower than DraftKings, Sleeper differentiates itself through its social integration. Players can build entries while chatting in real time, join public or private groups, and even run fantasy contests within their own communities. This blend of DFS and social networking makes Sleeper unique in the market. Sleeper Daily Fantasy App User Reviews Our Take On The Sleeper DFS App: Best for Social Players Sleeper shines as the go-to DFS app for players who value community and interaction. Its Pick’em contests are straightforward and rewarding, but the real draw is its integrated chat and league features that turn DFS into a social experience. Add in a solid $100 deposit match and ongoing promos, and Sleeper is a strong choice for anyone who wants DFS to feel more connected and community-driven. Chalkboard Daily Fantasy App Chalkboard is one of the newest entrants in the DFS space, carving out a niche by combining fantasy contests with community-driven features. A Refer-a-Friend program is also available, giving users extra bonus cash when new members sign up and start playing. Chalkboard DFS Contest & Game Variety Chalkboard’s primary focus is Pick’em contests, where users select player outcomes across multiple sports. These contests are designed to be approachable, with tiered payouts that reward accuracy and creativity. The app also experiments with community-driven contests, where groups can set up private pools, track leaderboards, and engage in side competitions. While Chalkboard doesn’t yet have the deep contest menu of DraftKings or Underdog, it’s leaning heavily on innovation in social play, positioning itself as a DFS platform that blends gaming with group dynamics. Chalkboard App User Reviews Our Take On The Chalkboard DFS App: DFS With a Social Twist Chalkboard stands out by making DFS feel more like a community event than a solo experience. Where is Underdog Legal? Underdog Fantasy Review 2026 Underdog Fantasy has rapidly become one of the most popular daily fantasy sports apps in the United States, offering a fresh alternative to traditional DFS platforms. The app centers around fantasy pick'em contests, snake drafts, and best ball formats, creating a streamlined experience that appeals to both casual players and dedicated fantasy fans. With simple gameplay, generous promotions, and a mobile-first design, Underdog has carved out a strong niche in the DFS market. This 2026 review will take a closer look at the platform's usability, app performance, contest variety, promotions, payment options, and customer support to give you a clear picture of what to expect. Underdog User Experience and Interface Underdog Fantasy delivers a clean, mobile-first experience that sets it apart from the darker, casino-style designs of many sportsbooks. The app features a bright, modern aesthetic with intuitive navigation tabs for Pick'em, Drafts, Contests, and Account. Building entries is straightforward: players can tap on lines, choose between flex or power play, and confirm their entry with a single click. The drafting interface for Best Ball contests is particularly well designed, allowing users to draft in real time directly from their mobile device. Performance is generally smooth with quick load times, though there can be occasional lag during high-traffic moments like NFL Sundays. Overall, the platform is highly user-friendly and optimized for quick, seamless play. Underdog Mobile App Review The Underdog mobile app is built for speed and convenience, offering fast and reliable payment integrations through PayPal, credit and debit cards, Venmo, and Apple Pay. The contest lobby updates in real time, allowing users to see the latest pick'em lines and draft entries as they become available. Notifications keep players informed about contest results, winnings, and new promotions. A secure wallet system clearly tracks deposits, entries, and winnings, giving users full visibility into their funds. Overall, Underdog offers one of the smoothest and highest-rated DFS app experiences in the U.S. Underdog Contest Variety and Market Depth Underdog Fantasy offers a strong mix of contest types and market depth that appeal to a wide range of players. Pick'em contests are the centerpiece, allowing users to select two to five player stat lines, higher or lower, with payout multipliers that increase based on the number of picks in each entry. Best Ball drafts have become a fan favorite, especially for NFL season-long play, where users draft once and Underdog automatically sets the optimal lineup each week. For those who prefer shorter commitments, daily and weekly drafts are available across major sports like the NBA, MLB, and NFL. The platform also supports private contests, making it easy to create and join friends' leagues. Underdog Payout Competitiveness Underdog Fantasy keeps payouts simple and transparent through standardized multipliers for its pick'em contests. Two picks pay out at 3x, three picks at 6x, four picks at 10x, and five picks at 20x. This fixed structure makes it easy for players to understand potential returns without worrying about changing odds or complex pricing models. Draft contests and Best Ball formats use prize pools, with winnings determined by the number of entries and final placement. Unlike traditional sportsbooks such as FanDuel or DraftKings, Underdog doesn't factor in juice or variable odds; payouts are fixed, shifting the focus toward smart player selection rather than line shopping. Betting Features and Innovation Underdog Fantasy distinguishes itself with a mix of innovative features that enhance both flexibility and engagement. The insurance option through Flex pick'em entries gives players a safety net, offering reduced payouts if one leg misses and lowering overall risk. Its Best Ball format has become a signature offering, with Underdog emerging as the clear leader in season-long fantasy drafts. Player pick props are updated throughout the day across multiple sports, ensuring fresh opportunities for action. The platform also uses a simple wallet system, keeping entries and withdrawals in one place. Combined with private drafts, influencer collaborations, and integrated promos, Underdog creates a strong community feel. Underdog Deposit and Withdrawal Methods Deposit Options: Underdog Fantasy supports a range of fast and reliable deposit methods. Players can use credit or debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover), which are processed instantly. PayPal provides a secure eWallet option with immediate funding, while Venmo offers another quick way to add funds. Mobile users can also use Apple Pay or Google Pay. The minimum deposit is typically $10, though this can vary slightly by state and payment method. Across all options, deposits appear in the account instantly. Withdrawal Methods: Underdog Fantasy offers several secure withdrawal options. PayPal is the fastest and most reliable method, with most withdrawals processed within 24 to 48 hours. Direct-to-debit card withdrawals for Visa and Mastercard typically take two to five business days. Online banking via ACH usually processes within two to four business days. Check by mail is an option, though it is slower. The minimum withdrawal amount is generally $10. Processing Notes: Before a first withdrawal, users may be asked to verify their identity or provide payment proof. Withdrawals are generally processed back to the original deposit method whenever possible. Any bonus funds must meet the required playthrough terms before they become eligible for withdrawal. Trust and Safety Underdog Fantasy operates with a strong emphasis on trust and player safety. The platform is licensed and regulated in the U.S. states where it's active, typically under fantasy sports and DFS regulations. It's legally available in dozens of states, though availability depends on local regulations, so it's always smart to confirm the current active states. Since launching in 2020, Underdog has grown rapidly, earning a strong reputation among fantasy players for its best ball contests and expanding pick'em games. In 2026 Underdog also launched Underdog Predict, its own CFTC-regulated prediction-market exchange offering sports and cultural event contracts inside the same app. Prediction markets are federally regulated as derivatives rather than under state fantasy or sportsbook law, and availability differs by state, so users should confirm what is offered where they are located. Within the app, players can set deposit and entry limits, as well as use playtime controls to manage their activity. There are also options for self-exclusion and cooling-off periods. <![CDATA[When the American Cancer Society offered Vina Morris a ticket to a New York Giants game, she figured that was the extent of it. She’s a breast cancer survivor and founded a non-profit to help promote breast cancer awareness. This seemed like a nice, small reward. What she didn’t know was what came next. When she got to MetLife Stadium, she was quickly escorted to the field, where she posed for photos with other breast cancer survivors. That’s when Giants quarterback Jameis Winston snuck up from behind the group. And then he gave Morris two tickets to Super Bowl LXI. "I had no clue," Morris, who founded AfroPink, told me on Monday. "I was just asked, as a survivor, if I wanted to go to a Giants game. That was all. I was completely surprised. Oh my God, did you see me? I was jumping up and down like a little girl. I was so giddy and happy and excited." That’s just part of the joy the 32-year-old Winston tries to bring with his yearly gathering of breast cancer survivors at one of his games during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, in partnership with the NFL and the American Cancer Society, he invited a group of 10 survivors to watch the Giants’ game on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Once there, they were given blue Giants T-shirts with Winston’s No. 19 in pink on the front. They also got tickets for a suite and pre-game passes for down on the field. That’s when Winston showed up for photos, to present Morris with her Super Bowl tickets, and to thank the survivors for their ability to "still rise every single day, no matter those circumstances, and put on that smile and shine bright like the sun we have today." "It’s one of the most rewarding things I get to do," Winston told me. "We want to give these women a special experience, but every year I feel like I’m the one walking away blessed. Hearing their stories, sharing some laughs and just spending time together means so much. Football is a game we love, but opportunities like this remind me that our purpose goes far beyond what happens on the field." Helping breast cancer survivors has become a passion for Winston, who has held an annual event at games since he was with the New Orleans Saints in the early 2020s. He was inspired by the stories of his Aunt Lois in Birmingham, Alabama, and his Aunt De-De and cousin Tonda in Louisville, Kentucky, who are all survivors of the terrible disease. "Seeing what they’ve gone through and how they’ve continued to fight really puts things into perspective," Winston told me. "It started with wanting to honor them, but God has blessed me with a platform to encourage so many other women and families going through that same battle." That encouragement and recognition mean a lot, and so does the awareness Winston brings with his actions. It’s a disease that affects one in eight women, according to the American Cancer Society, which estimates that 321.910 women will be diagnosed with it in 2026 alone, and 42,140 will die. And for the many, many survivors, there is no escape from their diagnosis. "We never stop thinking about it," Morris told me. "We might not talk about it a lot, but trust me, it’s on our minds constantly. "And it’s gestures like that, that can brighten someone’s day to know our lives matter, our stories matter. But it also brings to the national stage that people are surviving this. It doesn’t have to be a death sentence. You have support." That support is the primary reason Winston holds this event. He knows, from his own experiences with his family members, that it’s important that women with breast cancer know they’re not alone. "What people don’t understand is that as breast cancer survivors, it’s a very lonely journey for some of us, if you don’t have any support," Morris told me. "So it means a lot when you have a celebrity, a quarterback of the New York Giants, who wants to do something nice for you and brighten your day. (Breast cancer) changes you forever. So to know someone who is willing to do something to help celebrate the trials and tribulations that we go through as survivors, is nothing short of amazing." Winston feels the same way about the survivors. He was inspired to do this by the way his aunts and cousin fought. But he finds more inspiration in every woman he meets who’s fought that battle, too. "These women are the definition of strength and resilience," Winston said. "They’ve faced challenges that most people can’t even imagine, and they continue to show up with courage, faith and a positive spirit. That’s inspiring to me. They remind me to be grateful, to keep fighting through adversity and to never take a single day for granted. "If I can encourage them even half as much as they encourage me, that’s a win." That’s why, when he handed the Super Bowl tickets to Morris, he called it a "small" gesture, especially "compared to what you’re doing and what you’re achieving." She earned the tickets not only through her own battle, but for founding AfroPink in 2020 — a non-profit she told me is about "awareness, access and action" (AfroPink.org). She used her own story to make sure people have access to "factual information" about breast cancer, as well as knowledge of how they can take action about their health, and how they can survive. "Vina has an incredible story," Winston told me. "To overcome breast cancer twice and then dedicate herself to helping other women through AfroPink says so much about who she is. She’s using her experience to make a difference in other people’s lives, and that’s exactly the kind of impact we want to celebrate." Morris believes Winston should be celebrated, too. "First of all, anyone that wants to work to help others, when you have the means to do so, is a great human being to me," she told me. "And he’s just an amazing human being. That’s just a really nice thing to do."]]>

<![CDATA[The Los Angeles Rams are dealing more losses a day after they were upset by the Arizona Cardinals. Wide receiver Davante Adams is out six-to-10 weeks with a ruptured hamstring and kicker Blake Grupe will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL in Sunday's loss, head coach Sean McVay told reporters on Monday. Adams left Sunday's game with an apparent non-contact injury in the final minute and didn't return. Adams appeared to be holding his leg and hobbled off to the sideline where he was immediately seen by the Rams training staff. Adams finished the game with three catches for 39 yards. He's eighth in the league in receiving yards (480) to go with 30 receptions and four receiving touchdowns this season, proving to still be a key pass-catcher for Matthew Stafford. The injury marks another health setback for Adams after an injury cut his regular season short last year. He left a Week 15 win over the Detroit Lions in 2025 with a non-contact hamstring injury and missed the final three games of the regular season before returning for the playoffs. Adams' best outing came in Week 2, when he had eight catches for 195 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-6 win over the Giants. He also scored twice in last Monday’s 37-34 overtime loss to the Bills. As for the Grupe injury, he signed with the Rams last week after the team cut kicker Harrison Mevis amid his struggles. Grupe suffered his injury when he tried to make a tackle on a kick return. That put the Rams in a tricky spot for the remainder of Sunday's game. With Sunday's loss, the Rams dropped to 2-4 on the season. They take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7.]]>

<![CDATA[Florida State coach Mike Norvell expressed frustration Monday with the Atlantic Coast Conference officiating crew that oversaw his team’s 43-35 loss at the Miami Hurricanes in double overtime, calling a late holding penalty "an absolute joke." Norvell also questioned the interception that ended the game. Norvell said he spoke with ACC Supervisor of Football Officials Gary Patterson but has not heard "his final review" of the game. On the first of two "Hail Mary" attempts in the waning seconds, Florida State’s Ashton Daniels completed a pass to Micahi Danzy in the end zone, but the completion was waved off because left tackle Xavier Chaplin was flagged for holding. "The holding call, it was an absolute joke," Norvell said. "I have not heard (Patterson’s) final review from it. I’ve got a lot of respect for the job everybody has. Same thing happened a few plays earlier that was not called. But in that moment, that play, it’s just a shame. It really is. "We had to go convert the 2-point play. But for those kids to not be able to finish the game on the field, in that moment, it’s really disappointing. There are a lot of judgment calls in all things but that was bad. I haven’t gotten the final response from them, but if it’s anything less than what I said, it tells me everything I need to know." Norvell also criticized what he perceived as a lack of a discussion on the "simultaneous possession" on the second desperation throw to the end zone, the one that Florida State’s Duce Robinson got both hands on but was ruled an interception by Miami defensive back Bryce Fitzgerald. "The Hail Mary thing at the end, the only disappointing thing (is) I know it went to review," Norvell said. "From what I’ve been told, simultaneous possession never even came up in the conversation of review. ... As I said immediately after the game, if you got two guys going up for a catch, and they both come to the ground, simultaneous possession, that has to be a part of the discussion." Norvell went on to say he was proud of Florida State’s resolve in those moments, although Miami held on for the win. He also praised the Hurricanes, who were ranked No. 3 and moved up to No. 1 on Sunday, and said "that was a great college football game." Norvell also was candid about Florida State’s 3-4 record. Florida State has lost to a pair of top-10 teams on the road, Miami and the Alabama Crimson Tide, and to the SMU Mustangs in a home game on Labor Day. Florida State has a bye this week before hosting the Clemson Tigers on Oct. 31. Norvell is 41-38 in his seventh season at Florida State. "We’re not in the business of being close," Norvell said. "We’re not in the moral victories of it … I told them (Sunday), told the staff, ‘I’m a proud coach for how a team played.’" Reporting by The Associated Press.]]>

The Portuguese Football Federation announced Monday that the 41-year-old captain has been suspended for 30 days and fined €255 (about $286) after he left the national team’s camp in Denmark during the most recent international window. The suspension is backdated to Sept. 30, the day Ronaldo left camp, meaning he will be available for selection again when Portugal next plays on Nov. 14. The Disciplinary Council released a statement detailing their official verdict on Ronaldo. The statement read: "Accordingly, and on the grounds set out above, the Disciplinary Council – Non-Professional Section – of the Portuguese Football Federation hereby decides, in these proceedings, to uphold the charges in their entirety and, consequently, find the accused, Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro, guilty of committing, on one occasion and intentionally, the disciplinary offense provided for and punishable under Article 160(1) of the RDFPF. As a result, he is handed a 30-day suspension and an additional fine of 2.5 units, amounting to €255 (two hundred and fifty-five euros)." The dispute began when Ronaldo was an unused substitute in Portugal’s 2-1 Nations League win at Norway on Sept. 27. Ronaldo said head coach Jorge Jesus had told him beforehand he would get about a half-hour on the field. Jesus had him warm up, but he never entered the match. Tensions boiled over days later when Jesus said Ronaldo wouldn’t start against Denmark, and Ronaldo left camp the day before the match in Copenhagen. Portugal won that game and its rematch with Norway without him, leaving the team atop its Nations League group with a perfect record through four matches. In a lengthy statement posted to Instagram on Oct. 6, Ronaldo accused Jesus of breaking promises but took responsibility for leaving. "I owe my national team teammates an apology for leaving the training camp," he said. He also called on the federation to sanction him, arguing that as captain, his position "constitutes an aggravating factor." The pair had worked together at Al-Nassr, winning the Saudi Pro League together in 2025-26, before Jesus took over the national team. Ronaldo did not announce an end to his international career. He is the all-time leading scorer in men’s international soccer with 146 goals in 234 appearances for Portugal, and he captained the team to the Euro 2016 title and two Nations League crowns.]]>

<![CDATA[Buffalo Bills safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s eventful start to the 2026 season added another chapter. Gardner-Johnson has been suspended one game after his ejection Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. Gardner-Johnson was ejected before halftime of the Bills’ Week 6 game against the Las Vegas Raiders for unsportsmanlike conduct. He appeared to be in a verbal dispute with several Raiders’ players before the flag, and the replay showed Gardner-Johnson spitting in the area of Raiders tight end Brock Bowers. The act violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which applies to "any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship." Gardner-Johnson’s suspension begins Monday, Oct. 26, following the Bills’ Week 7 bye, meaning he will miss Buffalo’s Nov. 1 game against the Baltimore Ravens. He will be eligible to return to the active roster on Nov. 2. Gardner-Johnson can appeal the suspension. Sunday's ejection is the latest in a series of incidents for the veteran safety, who signed a one-year deal with Buffalo this year worth up to $6 million. In Week 2, the NFL fined Gardner-Johnson $11,194 for a hip drop tackle on Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs on the first snap of the third quarter of Buffalo’s 41-31 win. Gardner-Johnson was hit with another $11,194 fine following last Monday’s 37-34 overtime win over the Rams, this time for striking/kicking/kneeing on a play late in regulation. Gardner-Johnson stirred things up again after Buffalo’s 29-26 loss to the Patriots in Week 4. Efton Chism III made a diving, one-handed touchdown catch to win the game, and Gardner-Johnson brushed it off afterward, calling Chism a "practice squad player" who "made a hell of a catch." Sunday’s ejection isn’t the first of Gardner-Johnson’s career, either. In December 2024, while with the Eagles, he was disqualified against the Commanders after drawing his second unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of the game, then flashed two middle fingers at the crowd on his way to the tunnel. The Bills entered Sunday 4-1, while the Raiders came in at 3-2.]]>

<![CDATA[Joel Klatt has a new No. 1 team in the country. BYU takes the top spot after Bear Bachmeier and the Cougars beat Notre Dame 28-24 in Provo, ending the Fighting Irish’s 16-game winning streak. Georgia drops from the top spot after a 27-24 home loss to Auburn on a last-second field goal. Ohio State holds at No. 2 after beating Indiana 19-15, though it lost quarterback Julian Sayin to an arm injury. Miami stays at No. 3 after a double-overtime win over Florida State. Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas Tech all join the top 10, while Alabama, Texas and Utah fall out. Four of last week’s top six teams lost on Saturday, and Klatt’s top 10 looks nothing like it did seven days ago. Here’s the new pecking order. Odds to win national title: +4500 Odds to make CFP: -110 Klatt's thoughts: "First time debuting in my top 10 is going to be Texas Tech. They destroyed Arizona State. They finally looked like the Tech that we thought we were going to get. J’Koby Williams was outstanding. They win that game 53-25. So watch out for Tech. "You look at their schedule, they’ve got a pretty clean path. They already beat Houston, and now Houston’s a one-loss ranked team. There’s not much left on that schedule. They could easily be in the Big 12 Championship Game again and easily be back in the CFP." Odds to win national title: +8400 Odds to make CFP: +134 Klatt's thoughts: "Give me an eight clap for UCLA at No. 9. The only undefeated team left between the SEC and the Big Ten is Bob Chesney’s UCLA Bruins. Their defense has been relentless the last few weeks. Not the greatest schedule in the world, certainly the benefit of the schedule lottery in the Big Ten, but don’t look now. This team is likely going to be 10-0 when it goes to Michigan. They beat Wisconsin 17-7 in a defensive game. "How about all the schools that had openings last year? They’re probably thinking to themselves, ‘We should have given that Bob Chesney guy a harder look.’ Well, UCLA did, and they’re reaping the benefits." Odds to win national title: +5500 Odds to make CFP: +154 Klatt's thoughts: "Tennessee has an elite defense, so where are they in my top 10? Yes, they’re inside of my top 10. I’ve got Tennessee at No. 8. They’re a one-loss team. That’s a huge win over Bama. "You can run it. You can play defense. You can get after the quarterback. Those things travel. Those things last. Tennessee is at No. 8, and they might be making the playoff for the second time in three years." Odds to win national title: +1400 Odds to make CFP: -125 Klatt's thoughts: "At No. 7 is going to be Ole Miss. That was super impressive over a Missouri team that was rolling and running the ball well. Missouri in back-to-back weeks had right around 250 yards rushing, and they roll into Ole Miss, and Ole Miss thumps them on the ground. Ole Miss 257, Missouri 39. Yikes! That’s how you get beat 31-3. "Tip of the cap. We all kind of wrote you off after the Florida loss. Kewan Lacy went over 100 yards. That team is still very good, and their defense all of a sudden is playing great defense. That wasn’t on my bingo card. But if their defense plays well, Trinidad Chambliss is a guy you’ve got to deal with. That team could win the national championship if they play defense." Odds to win national title: +510 Odds to make CFP: -1100 Klatt's thoughts: "Georgia’s not going anywhere, I don’t think. I think they’ll be fine, and I think Kirby will be fine. In a lot of ways, this will allow them to look at some areas of need and fix them. "So where does Georgia fall in the rankings? I have no idea, guys. I really don’t. I was throwing darts. I could have put Ole Miss higher than Georgia. I could have put Tennessee higher than Georgia, but I didn’t. I put Georgia at six, and at this point, I still kind of believe in Georgia, even with the loss." Odds to win national title: +450 Odds to make CFP: -950 Klatt's thoughts: "Top 10 was horrendously difficult. I was throwing darts, guys. I might as well have been blindfolded. Notre Dame’s at five. How's that? Where do you want me to put them? I don’t know. "I think Notre Dame is going to be under some serious pressure when they face Miami, because they will be in the exact same boat they were a year ago. Even if they’re 10-2 and they lost at BYU and to Miami at home, we’re sitting there like, ‘You lost at home, you lost on the road, and by the way, those were the two best teams you faced. Who did you beat?’ Their strength of schedule right now is 42nd in the country. Their best win is Wisconsin. Maybe you can throw North Carolina in there." Odds to win national title: +820 Odds to make CFP: -700 Klatt's thoughts: "This is still a team that’s a national championship contender. The defense is still outstanding. It’s not like Ohio State went up and down the field. I’m looking at Josh Hoover struggling through three quarters and getting it going in the fourth quarter. Indiana’s at No. 4 on a day when everyone lost. Maybe Indiana in a loss also won. "You’re four inches away from them winning that game, and then the narrative of Saturday is completely different. If nothing changes from Saturday except for those four inches where Nick Marsh stepped out of bounds in the end zone and he scores and they win that game, then guess what we’re talking about? ‘The only consistent in college football is Curt Cignetti.’ That’s how close it is. Those are the margins right now, and that’s why I’m telling you, parity is here." Odds to win national title: +600 Odds to make CFP: -3500 Klatt's thoughts: "You can be mad at me about this ranking, but you can’t just survive against Florida State. Maybe it’s the rivalry thing. Okay, Red River rivalry, I give that excuse. Michigan-Ohio State, you say throw the records out. Maybe you throw the records out in this one as well. I’ll give you that. I will just say Florida State is not that great of a team. They’re very good on offense. They are not on defense. "I know Miami is banged up a little bit, but come on. Some of the tackling. They couldn’t stop Duce Robinson in the first overtime on that 75-yard touchdown. They get that egregious holding call to go their way on the first Hail Mary in the second overtime. So they survive, but I couldn’t, in good conscience, put them ahead of Ohio State, who beat Indiana." Odds to win national title: +480 Odds to make CFP: -950 Klatt's thoughts: "Did I put Ohio State all the way up at No. 1? I did not. I’ve got Ohio State at No. 2 in the country after that big win. Top-five matchup on the road, ending a 22-game winning streak. Got to feel good. They’ve got some margin for error now in the rest of their season. "But again, major questions surrounding the most important position on the field. Who can maximize their ability to win? Who can maximize Jeremiah Smith [with Julian Sayin injured]?" Odds to win national title: +4500 Odds to make CFP: -140 Klatt's thoughts: "I know where you think I’m going to put them, and I’m not. Everyone wants to put Miami up there at No. 1. Nope. You don’t go to double overtime with Florida State and get the benefit of a horrendous call and get the benefit of the doubt from me. Ohio State beat Indiana on the road. BYU beat Notre Dame. BYU is my No. 1 team in the country. "The Cougars deserve the respect, and quite frankly, I think they’ve earned it at this point. Ohio State has a loss. I know Miami doesn’t have a loss, but what has Miami done? Florida State is not a very good football team, and we’ve seen that proven out. Do you want to play BYU in Provo? I don’t. I don’t think anybody does at this point. Not in that scene."]]>

<![CDATA[The Atlanta Falcons signed veteran quarterback Andy Dalton and released backup Cooper Rush on Monday. Dalton is expected to join Tua Tagovailoa as the top backups to starter Michael Penix Jr. The signing was announced one day after the Falcons’ 31-23 loss to the Chicago Bears. The Philadelphia Eagles released Dalton on Oct. 9 after he threw an interception on his only attempt as Jalen Hurts’ backup. Dalton, 38, was acquired by the Eagles from the Carolina Panthers, where he made seven starts in three seasons, on March 18. Dalton was a second-round pick by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2011 draft. He made three Pro Bowls during nine seasons with the Bengals and also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago and the New Orleans Saints. Dalton is 84-83-2 as a starter. He has completed 62.6% of his passes for 39,793 yards, 254 touchdowns with 152 interceptions in 16 seasons. Rush, 32, was 0-2 as Atlanta’s starter. He was pressed into the starting role with Penix continuing his recovery from his 2025 knee surgery and with Tagovailoa ruled out with an oblique injury. In the losses to Carolina and the Pittsburgh Steelers to open the season, Rush completed 22 of 39 passes for 229 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions. Penix has started the past four games for the Falcons (2-4), who play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Reporting by The Associated Press.]]>

<![CDATA[Phoenix Raceway (Avondale, Ariz.) — Christopher Bell finished second at Charlotte a week ago and left fuming. He finished fourth Sunday at Phoenix and left hopeful. That’s what The Chase will do to drivers. It'll make them stew over missed opportunities. Then it will make them feel thankful when they can capitalize on another driver’s misfortune. The bottom line is Bell sits just five points behind Kyle Larson with three races remaining in the season. Granted, he doesn’t love superspeedway racing enough to really look forward to Talladega next week. But Martinsville and Homestead — the final two races of the year — are places where he knows he can run well. "I'm absolutely in it," Bell told me and other reporters after the Phoenix race. "We’ve just got three more races to decide a champion. I think there's a lot of us who are in it." That’s true. Six drivers are within 56 points of Larson. But Bell is the closest at just five points behind. He’s trailed by Chase Briscoe (24 points behind Larson), Denny Hamlin (minus-31), Ryan Blaney (-40), Joey Logano (-44) and Tyler Reddick (-56). While Bell led a race-high 85 laps at Phoenix, he didn’t feel he was the best car or the best driver late in the event. "Early on, I felt like we were going to be able to contend for the win, and then Stage 2 we lost a little bit. And then Stage 3, same thing. There were quite a few guys that were better than me," Bell said. "It came down to strategy and restarts at the end. And we had good strategy, put tires on it, and was able to get a good finish. "It wasn't a super pretty day, but with other people having mistakes, it ended up being a good day for us." It was a good day because Larson struggled throughout and ended up blowing a tire, resulting in just a three-point, 34th-place day. Bell earned 49 points on the day, cutting the gap from 51 points to five points. Adam Stevens, the crew chief for Bell and winner of two Cup titles with Kyle Busch, indicated being five points behind certainly puts them in position to make a run at Bell’s first Cup title. Talladega brings its normal uncertainty as well as the change in the spoiler from 4 inches to 3.5 inches. The opening stage, being more than half the race, is also still something relatively new. "A lot of unknowns still," Stevens said. "Martinsville, we’re going to have to hit it right. Thankfully, we won there … if we can get [Christopher] close, he'll be good. And same thing with Homestead." Bell knows he’s good but also believes he possibly has thrown away opportunities. He was curt in his answers after Charlotte, where he made a late run on Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Chase Briscoe, only to come up a few feet short. The two had a little bit of contact, but Bell said he had no issue with Briscoe. It was more with himself as he had attempted to rally for the win. "I felt like we had the race under control through the early parts of Stage 3 and then lost the lead and Chase started driving away," Bell said Saturday at Phoenix during a news conference. "I had got to be pretty content with second. I was like, ‘OK, it’s going to be what it’s going to be’ and then all of a sudden, the last couple of laps just kind of teased me a little bit. "I was disappointed in myself coming to the line. I thought that I probably could have done a little bit more to get the win, so the frustration was really [with] myself." He put that frustration behind him with a solid run at Phoenix. And now he needs to survive the chaos of Talladega. "The difference maker is who gets those wins and then Talladega," Bell said. "Whatever happens at Talladega, the likelihood of a crash at Talladega is a lot higher at that track than other tracks. "It can hinder your points that you [earn]. Between Talladega and race wins, that’s going to be the deciding factor." That might not be in Bell’s favor. He has two teammates — Briscoe and Hamlin — still fighting for the title, as well as Toyota driver Reddick. They likely will all be fighting for points. Larson doesn’t have any teammates within striking distance for the title and potentially will get more help from the Hendrick and the overall Chevrolet stable. "That's a real thing. That's not a made-up story," Stevens said. "That's something that we're going to have to battle against. It’s a one-horse race over there [at Chevrolet], and they have those resources to put toward it. "So if it comes down to group decision-making, we're at a disadvantage for sure." In The News — In a flurry of O’Reilly Series announcements for 2027: Brennan Poole announced he would move from Alpha Prim Racing to Jordan Anderson Racing; Ryan Ellis will move from Young’s Motorsports to Alpha Prime; Blaine Perkins will move from Jordan Anderson to Sam Hunt Racing. — JR Motorsports has hired Tristan McKee to drive in the O’Reilly Series at races next year after he turns 17, as well as in 2028 with the goal of a full-time schedule in 2029. His first race will be at Bristol in August. The ARCA East champ will also still drive select truck races for Spire Motorsports. — In Indy NXT, Niels Koolen will move from Chip Ganassi Racing to Abel Motorsports. In the Indy NXT test Friday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, Tymek Kucharczyk posted the fastest time among the Indy NXT regulars. — ARCA, which has run a General Tire-branded tire in recent years, will go to a Continental-branded tire in 2027. General Tire and Hoosier are both Continental brands. — U.S. Secretary of Labor Keith Sonderling visited the Universal Technical Institute in North Carolina, the trade school that often funnels many graduates to NASCAR teams. Sonderling also attended the Charlotte race Oct. 11 and the INDYCAR race in Washington earlier this year. Sonderling: "We’re trying to show how American INDYCAR racing is, we’re trying to show how American NASCAR racing is ... and that is an industry that makes us very proud." <![CDATA[The NBA’s top defenders are ready to make their case — but the oddsboard suggests one player is a clear step ahead. With rising stars and former winners in the mix, the race features plenty of challengers looking to shake up the board. So, who will take home Defensive Player of the Year? Let’s check out the odds to win NBA Defensive Player of the Year at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Oct. 19. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. At -360, he’s the overwhelming favorite after averaging 3.1 blocks and 11.5 rebounds last season. Opponents had a much tougher time scoring with him on the floor, as his team allowed 9.1 fewer points per 100 possessions than when he sat. Wemby looks to win this award in back-to-back seasons. What To Know: Holmgren is Wembanyama’s closest challenger at +1200, but he has some major ground to make up. He averaged 1.9 blocks and 8.9 rebounds last season, while his team allowed 6.5 fewer points per 100 possessions with him on the court. Could his first Defensive Player of the Year award be next? What To Know: The big men have company. Thompson has the third-best odds at +2500 after averaging 2.0 steals and 0.9 blocks in just 26 minutes per game last season. His ability to disrupt offenses gives him a chance to break through in a race often dominated by rim protectors. What To Know: Could Gobert make history with a fifth Defensive Player of the Year award? The four-time winner sits at +3000 after averaging 11.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks last season. His defensive impact remains hard to ignore: His team allowed nine fewer points per 100 possessions with him on the floor last season. What To Know: At +4000, Mobley offers another intriguing option further down the board. He averaged 1.7 blocks and 9.0 rebounds last season and already has a Defensive Player of the Year award on his résumé. Can he make another run at the honor? The competition has gotten a lot tougher.]]>

<![CDATA[The Kansas Jayhawks have added All-Big Ten forward Trey Kaufman-Renn, who played four seasons at the Purdue Boilermakers before getting picked by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the NBA draft, filling their biggest perceived hole on the eve of the college basketball season. Jayhawks coach Bill Self announced his transfer Monday, hours before the release of the men’s preseason AP Top 25 poll. The 24-year-old Kaufman-Renn has enrolled in classes at Kansas and began practicing with the team on Sunday. "He reached the national championship game, the Elite Eight and the Sweet 16 at Purdue, and has been extremely well-drilled and well-coached," Self said in a statement. "Even though it’s late in the process, because of his basketball IQ, we think his transition will be quicker than most put in the same circumstance." The 59th overall pick in the June draft, Kaufman-Renn intends to play another season of college basketball after the NCAA’s sudden and chaos-inducing rule change designed to allow student-athletes to play five seasons over a five-year span. The rule was not intended to include players who had finished their careers this past season. But the gray area it created has led to a wave of lawsuits across the country, as athletes in all sports seek another year of eligibility. Kaufman-Renn was granted a preliminary injunction earlier this month, making the 6-foot-9 power forward eligible to play for Kansas for the time being. Kaufman-Renn graduated from high school in 2021 but didn’t suit up his first season at Purdue because of a knee injury. He played the following four seasons, appearing in 147 games, and helped Purdue reach the national championship game two years ago. Jayhawks guards Melvin Council Jr. and Tre White also have won preliminary injunctions to play another season for them. Kaufman-Renn joins a lineup headlined by Council and White alongside Tyran Stokes, the consensus No. 1 recruit in the nation, and fellow five-star freshman Taylen Kinney. His addition also fills a need in the post, where Flory Bidunga’s transfer to the Louisville Cardinals and Bryson Tiller’s departure for rival Missouri Tigers had left a glaring hole in the roster. Kaufman-Renn averaged 20.1 points and 6.5 rebounds as a junior and 14.2 points and 8.3 rebounds this past season at Purdue. He also appeared in five games for the Timberwolves during the NBA’s summer league, averaging 6.6 points and 3.8 rebounds. Reporting by The Associated Press.]]>
